Hello all. We have 3 pugs and they always travel with us. That was the reason for a TT. If you all ever come through Rutherfordton, North Carolina. There is a all dog camp ground just for dogs and their owners. You can look it up at. Www.4pawskingdom.com.

3 Dogs -- No problems

We camp with our mini long-haired doxie and 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. They are one of the reasons we have a Class C (I work for a hotel company and could stay cheaper at our hotels ). We have never been turned away (usually camp in private camp grounds up and down the East Coast). As has been pointed out, in a few places (including Fort Wilderness at Disney) there is a small charge for having the dogs (not per dog) -- 5$ a night seems to be the average. While I don't necessarily agree (hey, they don't charge for kids), it is a small price to pay to bring them along. We have a fencing unit that we use to fence in our outdoor rug and it works well for the little guys. They are usually so tired after a day of play, they sack out early and aren't really barkers anyway.

I want to second the recommendation for Four Paws Kingdom Campground in Rutherfordton, NC -- it is a dog focused campground with wonderful activities for the dogs and adults. However, younger children aren't accepted and there are no activities for kids.

Just came back from Lake George RV park with our 3 dogs and no problem at all. We walk them twice a day minimum and they enjoy the fresh air with us. Barking is kept to a minimum

We have a 7 yr. old Lhasa and a 1 yr. old mix. We take them with us all the time. The 7 yr. old has excellent camping manners and hopefully the 1 yr. will learn from her. So far so good! Some CG charge extra for each dog and some don't, but that will not deter us if we really like and enjoy the CG.

We have never been to a campground that had a fee for dogs. What reason do they give to justify the fee?

Biggest problem we have is when owners go off and leave their dog/s in the trailer and they bark constantly. Becoming more & more evident. We have a dog and if we leave her, she has a bark collar on which stops her immediately from barking over one time. Love dogs, hate when they bark constantly with the owners standing there acting like nothing is happening.

I totally agree, that's why we are getting ours bark collars before we go in Sept. When we reprimand Daisy for barking she looks at us, laughs and keeps barking!

hahahahah! no kidding! our Sheltie is like that!
but we take them for a looooong walk before we go, shut the windows if hot and turn the air on and a fan just in case the air malfunction. Shut all blinds, turn up the radio.
I tested them by driving away, and walking back and waiting, no bark.
I then asked neighbours when I returned to be sure, and all was quiet. Seems like they are too tired to care and thankful for the nap time.

Barking, laughing dogs!

Yes that's what we do, and we'll have to always remember to walk them. Thanks for the reminder, although we generally walk them for their potty times.

We use a portable ultrasonic bark device to deter any undesired barking. My neighbors (at home) have a dog who used to visciously bark at me once he saw me thru the chain link fence at the back of our property....I had been experimenting with my dogs with the ultrasonic device & found it worked wonderfully in keeping them from joining in song with the dogs in the area who bark just to bark...anyway, the neighbor dog irritated me beyond tolerance...sick of him harrassing my dogs and me. so I grabbed the device turned it up (for distance) and aimed it at him. He stopped after the first bark and ducked his head and trotted away...it took 2x of him experiencing thos & no lpngers harrasses me across the bridle path that seperates our properties.
Take it on trips (esp at dog shows), the dogs are reminded barking not acceptable..dont have to keep it on the whole time...they are smart enough to know...but sure as heck wont hesitate to point it at a nuisiance barker if I am ever at a campground having my peace destroyed...maybe put my unit on loan to them haha

Ultrasonic, hmmmmm, I just ordered a collar that has tone, vibration and shock, I hope not to use the shock. I'm not sure I know what ultrasonic is, I'm guessing it's a sound the dogs can hear and not humans?

Ultrasonic emits a high pitched frequency sound only heard by the dogs and activated when the dog barks. You can tell its activated and bursting a frequency because a little red light flashes. You can set the sensitivity to the built in microphone so that it wont constantly activate. My friend had great success with it with her Great Danes and home & at the shows, so I thought I'd try with my dogs, as they tend to get noisy when they are playing & not used to new neighbors kids noise....so, I thought I'd give it a try. It is a great behavioir distractor - they acknowledge that with the bark comes the frequency noise...it is peaceful once again at oir hoise....and nice that the neighbor dog leaves me alone. ;-)

We are finding it difficult finding CG that will accept 3 dogs.
What do you guys do? sneak them in and hope for the best?
Don't feel bad , we had a potential campground decline us because of our Lab retriever. Now seriously I am more frightened of getting bitten by a smaller dog than a Lab or Golden.
It basically comes down to poop and noise. I think if your dogs are behaved and you clean up after them (duh!) what difference if you have 10 dogs?

My wife and I will never leave our pets in kennels or board them. They are part of our family. Love the photos of all the precious doggies.

Alan, I totally understand - small dogs make me nervous....besides the joke is that a chihiahia cohld easily kill a bullmastiff....so we avoid them. LOL

One thing we have found that sometimes helps tip the scales with CG owners is if the dog jas a CGC certificate (Canine Good Citizen)...dog is formally tested for socialibility reaction to people and dogs.

As you can see from my girl's happy face (this reaction from asking if she wants a cookie) it can be down right frightening for someone watching her...we make sure to walk thru the grounds and let people see and meet the dogs...breed education is always good...and of course, we make sure people see us carrying our poop bags when walking.

Only if the bullmastiff got choked on him.

Make sure my dogs behave, and we never had an issue, even if the limit is two dogs. We travel with 2 large dogs and a puppy, so really 2.5 dogs!

We were asked When we made reservations what breed dog we had. When we told them great Pyrenees the campground said his breed was not on the bad list he was fine. When we showed up and my 10 year old walked him around the campground on his gentle leader/ halty they asked us to leave. He hadn't barked or even looked at the other dogs or people in any way! They thought it was a muzzle!!!
