A New Travel Companion

Meet Harley, he will be camping with us in 2009. He is a 3 years 75 lbs rescued Greyhound from Florida and he is number 4 for us. We have had him for about 6 months now and it looks like he has adjusted well. The first 3 Greyhounds we had were from up North and was use to MD weather, but Harley had never seen snow before.

By the looks of that photo, well adjusted might just be an understatment.

Corgrats on the new traveler.

Our Wirefox Terriers (from "Our Travel Companions" post) are rescue dogs also; from puppymills in Kentucky and Arkansas. It is very rewarding to bring these dogs into your home and to get them to love and trust; to enjoy life. Good for you. I wish more people knew about puppymills and rescue organizations. These dogs come from heartbreaking conditions physically and mentally.

I agree, if pet loving people only knew what is going on. From time to time the News tells the sad stories behind puppy mills. Greyhounds on the other hand are not from what is known as puppy mills, they are breed at the track after they are pulled from racing. Greyhounds are bread and raised for racing only, It's all about money. They are not considered pets but only as livestock, that's why the Greyhound industry is not under any rules like other breeds of dogs. I am not going too far with this because it up sets me knowing what I know and how they are treated here In the U.S. But you would believe what they do to them In Spain. acadian bob, If people could take a little time to read or even go on line and check out the puppy mills and the Greyhound Racing Industry as to how they are treated then they would be sick. There also books with heart wrenching pictures. Here are some pic of the happy times for those dogs that survived at Dewey Beach DE.

I hear you man. These dogs have done nothing to warrant the cruel treatment they receive. These are the best dogs we have ever had and you can tell that they are so grateful for the love and care they receive. They return 10 times over whatever you give them.
