She has a bed to the right of the couch and in the bedroom, her crate is there. Her crate is her sanctuary. We keep her in there at night and when we are out.

But at home, she is afraid of me. Maybe I remind her of her previous owner? I don't know. But camping, I am a totally different person to her. She hops up on the bunk with me. She loves camping. At home, rarely will she hop on the couch with me. But when mama sits, she is right next to mama... Usually the opposite side of where I sit.

We fostered a teacup Chihuahua for a while and while we don't have heat registers near the floor, he was *always* under a blanket somewhere, and at night he slept UNDER the covers near our feet.

He'd literally beg to get under the covers. I dunno how they breathe like that! Summer or Winter...under he'd go.

Fred the camping dog has a trick he's developed; we have a brick hearth that goes all the way across the West wall of our great room. When there's a fire in the fireplace he drags a blanket over to a corner and lays on it, up against that brick, which of course is warm because of the heat transfer.

Had a yorkie who dozed atop a floor register. One day his rabies tag got stuck in the vent, and when he jumped up to greet us it pulled the cover up out of the floor, and he promptly fell down the duct opening. Luckily caught himself by his little front paws and pulled himself up.

Our clumber spaniel used to lie on the registers when AC was running - she always got her toenails caught and pulled the vent covers off alot

Scared the s$&t out of herself every time but she never learned...she went to the Rainbow Bridge over three years ago ....RIP Angel 💕

Mjones have a similar story with our huge lab mix and an entirely full lower rack of our dishwasher....he flipped out and took off with about 30# of pots and plates across the kitchen through the living room and finally broke the ring on his tag when the rack smacked the wall at light speed. He does not wear a collar in the house anymore.Click image for larger version
