Does anyone take their cat on trips?
We were considering taking our cat with us on our next trip. We got a small litter box, cage for outside and a leash.
Has anyone have a good setup for cats? If so could you tell me what I may be missing. Is it feasible to take a cat with you camping?

We used to take our cat (and dog) all the time with us. We had a small cage for the dog while we were away. We don't take either anymore because we were always scared the power would go out while we were gone.

We’ve taken Daisy with us since we first got her back in 05.
She loves to sit on the center console & really likes when tractor trailers go by.
If you pick up her leash she comes running from wherever in the camper & sits by the door.
She’ll go for a walk, head back to the camper, use the scratch box & want back out again.

My DW (aka: crazy cat lady, named by our Grandsons) takes her cat camping. I would say it all depends on the cat. Our cat travels well, does not seem to eat or drink much until we stop for the night, It does not do the incessant meowing thing and never attempts to make a mad dash for an open door.
One thing however, per my DW, it is necessary to take along documentation of the pets immunizations in case authorities question it.
I will say that the cat is a much better camping companion than most dogs we run across - so many people allow their dogs to bark-n-bark-n-bark till your ready to either shoot the thing or pack up and leave.

We've wondered the same thing. Recently got a Rag Doll. She has her claws so what worries me the most is her climbing the screen door. She's pretty clingy.

We have camped with our cat, Misty, for years. She travels well and adepts well to various campsites. In fact she travelled with us last year when we travelled 8,000 miles around the USA.
We enjoy having her with us and the looks we get from passing motorist.

We are full time RVers with two attitudinal felines, Thelma & Louise. They do fine. We crate them during travel & they do not go out side. We purchased a cabinet to put their litter pan in which doubles as a window seat so they can watch the birds.

We take our 3 year old cat on all trips. He rides well and camps even better! We do use the harness & a leash at all times when outside the RV.

Oh, she's adorable! And very smart to find her way under that sleeping bag.

We travel with our cat. He does fine on the ride, in the camper and on the leash. We take his litter box and food bowl from home.

Cat door
We have a 5th wheel trailer and want to begin to take our cat with us. Once we get to the camp site most of the things in the "basement" come out and leaves an empty space. I am thinking about making a small passageway from the main living area into the basement so the cat can freely go back and forth. It would also make an excellent place to put the litter box. I already made a screen that attaches to the open outside door so she can see out. We took her along the other weekend for two days to see how the basement worked. She loved it and didn't want to come out so we could put her back in the living area with us.
So, has anyone else made a pass thru? I'm thinking the door only needs to be about 6 inches by 8 inches. The entertainment center is on that wall. I'm thinking I can open one of she doors to allow access to the passage. It would also allow me to control where she is.
I'm also wondering what kind of framework I might run into in that wall.
Open to suggestions and comments.
Thanks.

Here is our cat roxy on our first trip out with our new toy hauler. She loves camping. We put a harness on her and tie a rope that is about 10 feet long to her and she thinks she is tied up so she doesn't get to far.

wondered if I was crazy considering this, I think my baby girl Miss Snickers may be a good candidate. Our pom, Shadow, LOVES camping ~ I think, primarily because he gets so much attention

See my previous reply. I did go ahead and put in a door to the storage area. Took the cat on a 3 week trip and she settled in like it was nothing. She's not a sit on your lap cat, but, she likes to be with us. We have discovered that even though the neighbor visits every day when we go for 3 or 4 day trips, she gets very lonely so we have made the decision to take her for any trip longer than 4 days. I'd say to at least do a trial run. We first tried a 2 day trip 20 miles from home to see if it worked. We figured if it didn't, we could easily take her home.
