I had a girlfriend that thought I should sell my BMW cause I also had an SUV, she talked me into it, sold the car, got rid of the girlfriend, new girlfriend married me and let me buy another BMW.... problem solved

IMHO, you and the GF should sit down and have a long heart to heart talk about what's important to you. The choices and decisions are not going to be fun, but sooner rather than later is best.
