Dog wont use the stairs in 5'er

The dog wont go up the stairs on our 5'er, has anyone put backing or carpeting on the stairs successfully and how did you adhere it?

My Weiner dog won't go up the stairs but will go down them. I've been thinking of putting something on our stairs also. Can someone show us pics of what you may have put on the stairs.

We had a similar issue in our house - one of our dogs just couldn't get the hang of going down a half-flight of stairs with ceramic tile. We got carpet runner from HD, trimmed to fit each tread and adhered with double-sided tape. Its still there doing well even now after the dogs are gone (and we're getting older).

We bought some stair rugs from Camping World. They come in different colors. Link:Decorian 10 Inch Step Hugger Landing Rug - Sierra Brown - Prest-O-Fit 5-3091 - Step Rugs - Camping World

I was talking about the stairs on the inside. Guess I'll get some carpet and use double sided stick tape to hold it in place.

I have one mini Schnauzer who will go up and down and another that only goes down. I did install stair rugs on the steps which is helpful for the dogs and helps keep some of the dirt outside.

Camping world also makes indoor step carpets. They have adhesive backs. Come in flat and also ones that curve over the edge of step.
Nice tweed colors like oatmeal and toast
We use an adjustable height step aerobic step to help our little guys get in the door too. makes a nice platform to get a running start

When we had a 5'er, my shih tuz would go up but not down, I tried to make her, the poor little dog did a face plant. We got a motor home she goes up and down the steps all the time now, I'm not sure that the difference is.

PetSmart sells these: Search Results

We use one with our older dog but he likes a rug on the ramp. If I don't have to lift his 80 pounds, then I'm happy. Good luck!

If I got one of ChipBruce's pet ramps, I'd have to retrain DW.

Our Bearded Collie, Freddie, is now almost eleven years old and no longer likes steps or getting in and out of the back of a SUV. We bought a folding ramp for him and it is working just fine. Between it and his thyroid meds he thinks he is a puppy again.

Our smaller dogs prefer the ramp over steps as well so we often have a "dog jam" at the ramp while Freddie tries to herd everyone in...

Well ccondos it would be better on your back than picking the DW up and carrying her upstairs! Positive reinforcements and lots of treats may be the ticket. And one of those clickers. Especially the clicker.

I bought some carpet at Lowes, cut to fit the steps and glued it down with Contact Cement. After almost 2 years it has not come loose.

My Chihuahuas are not used to steps and won't go up or down the outside steps. I purchased these step covers and they are getting better with it.

Assuming these are the external steps, are there little holes in the surface of the steps?

I would sure hate to see a dog get a nail caught in one of those small holes !!!
