What ever breed you are interested in whether a pure bred or mixed breed, look into the mixture of the breeds or breed and research their temperament and health concerns. Do your research reputable breeder or rescue, all breeds have a parent club with links to a breed rescue or your local shelter is an option though unfortunately around my way most have bull breed mixes that campgrounds seem to not welcome, which is unfortunate. Whatever dog you choose will be the right fit for you!

We travel with our "CH" cat that was adopted from animal rescue. They didn't know what a "CH" cat was and was about to put him down since they thought he had been injured and couldn't walk straight.
Cats don't bark, most don't want to leave the unit unless to the truck, use a box and don't have to be walked and picked up after and aren't restricted in any campgrounds. "Duke" stays in his crate with the door open while traveling in the back seat of the truck. He has a litter box on the floor, but has never used it while traveling. The litterbox inside the TT is through a pet flap under the bed and is not seen or smelled.
If it's raining outside, not having to walk a dog is a blessing. Been there, done that.

We first traveled with 2 Lab mixes. They were brothers. Lost one a couple years ago, the one that was left seamed ok but didn't like being the Alpha male. Last April we adopted a female Golden. She was 13 and talk about liking camping, took to it like a duck to water. Both love riding, either the RV or the car. You need good temperament and friendly.
