Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone
here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and
hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play
together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our
friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health
and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days
and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except
for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them,
who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one
suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are
intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from
the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him
faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend
finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be
parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands
again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the
trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you all, today was really hard not seeing her follow me around wanting food not going to the garage door and asking me to get the outside cat their food and drinking my morning coffee with her wanting her back scratched. She will be missed.

So very sorry for your loss.
We have felt the same with our past pets when they have passed and or had to be put down, and we are not looking forward to the day when we will have to do it again.
The thing to remember is how much you have made your pets life so wonderful in the short time they walk this earth.

So sorry to hear about Squeakers. It's amazing how much they give in such a short period of time.

Sorry about Squeakers, we lost our cat of 24 years a couple years ago and I still find myself looking for her. She was also black with just a touch of white on her nose. Never thought I would become so attached to a cat but I did and still miss her.

Sorry for your loss. My tuxedo companion had to be put down after 23 years. He was always at my side. That was over 5 years ago and I still miss him. We now have 2 rescue tuxedo cats that are 2 years old and they will out live me since I am nearly 77 years old. Every animal we have had lived 20 years or more and in that amount of time you certainly get attached to them just like the other members of your family. Lots of rescue animals looking for a good home.

Funny how they (pets) creep into our lives, demand little, give much, then leave such a huge hole when they pass on. Sorry for you.

Sorry so for your loss. Making the tough choice of what to do is never easy to deal with. Pets are family and it's not the same without them.

A few years ago I returned home from a camping trip to find that I had lost my beloved cat Furby to coyotes. As much as I was hurting about Furby I had another cat a few weeks later. Kitty wasn't a replacement cat but rather another addition the family.

Great choice for "Living within my means" and camping for one...
