Our first trip, minus one.

Last weekend, we went camping on our first trip without my sweet Sylvester. Normally, we camp with Sled the rescue Siberian Husky, Mitsy the Ragdoll cat and Sylvester the handsome kitty man, whom we got from the SPCA 16 years ago.

2 weeks ago, we had to put Sylvester down. He had an inoperable tumor on his stomach and he stopped eating. He lots 50% of of his body weight and the vet said that it was time.

Every camping trip we took, all 3 animals were with us. It was so weird not to have him there, pawing me in the face for attention and sleeping all snuggled up close to me. There was such a void without my furry kitty man. I had a hard time sleeping without him there.

I honestly think he liked going camping. He definitely wasn't a fan of riding in the car to various locations. But once we got there and he was settled in the camper, he just seemed happy. I think he knew how happy and relaxed I was when we camped, so he was happy too.

I am lost without him.

I am very sorry for your loss. Please take comfort in knowing you gave Sylvester one last gift of love, the gift of peace. It takes love to keep them alive but it takes an even greater love to let them go. My Sonya kitty, Calico kitty and Linus the mountain lion of a cat will welcome him across the rainbow bridge.

Oh, man. So sorry. Last September I lost my camping buddy, Cody (Australian Shepherd). It was tough, but as you probably know time will help. I now have a new Aussie, Dash, and he's been a great camper.

Another well traveled 16 year old.....she travels with us all the time and is quite comfortable doing it, as well.....doesn't like the truck part of the trip unless she's in DW's lap...has been from Gulf Shores to Louisville KY and many points in between....so sorry for your loss.

Our deepest condolences. Here's hoping Sylvester finds Frankie, our rescue.

Sorry for you loss, had a similar event with our Carian Terrier. Adopted a new pet from local animal shelter. Had her first campout on Guntersville Lake, she did great, looks to be a natural camping girl.Click image for larger version

So sorry for your loss. I have two purr babies and one sleeps with me constantly, so I know the feeling. I pray your heart heals, your memories remain fresh of his love and your heart open for the next purr baby.

With all the wonderful animals I've had, I'll probably be trampled at the rainbow bridge! I really do believe they go to heaven. I recently had to put down my 33 y/ o Morab horse, and have lost cats and dogs here ont the ranch as they can't abide staying in and we have mountain lion s, bobcats, bears , coyotes , and foxes wild here. But our animals have wonderful lives, and love to travel with us in our MH. Our animals are truly gifts from God.
