Sad indeed. We went away for the winter and when we got here, our Stanley, Lab mix, took a turn for the worse and we had to put him down. 15yrs 4months. Miss my buddy!

I lost the first Australian Shepard in October. I think he had a small stroke and then went down too quickly for My wife and I. He had just turned 16 and had a great camping life with all of our family all of that time. We miss him all the time and his brother looks all over the house and in the yard daily.

Sorry for your loss. Coming home to an empty house is the hardest thing for a long time.

Timely thread

This thread is sadly timely. Last weekend at our maiden voyage, my wife pulled me aside and said, “when you make the rest of the camping reservations don’t pay extra for the dog. He’s been peeing blood and doesn’t have much longer.” He’s a yellow lab named Carl who is just turning 12. He’s had diabetes for two years despite good weight, exercise and diet. His eyes got cloudy, and he doesn’t see well. Last month he started having urinary urgency. But oddly on walks he stops to pee every 5 seconds and has no pee left. Anywhoo, my wife noticed blood, and we’ve been down this road once before.

He’s been camping with us since he was a puppy and loves it. Here he is last summer in one of our favorite mountain campgrounds.

So sorry to hear. We are in the same boat with my 15 y.o. Jack Russell with the pee-ing, cloudy eyes, ect. Two months ago we thought it was over since he could barely walk then but he got better for one last trip to Fort Wilderness. Now it's just a matter of any day now could be his last. It will be sad indeed but he is preparing us.

Its very hard to loose them! They give so much love, that when they are gone it leaves a big gap! Takes time till maybe another crosses your path with a need for home, shelter and love!

It's very sad to lose pets,. They are family. I had to put my 10 year male min pin down in October 2017. And my 10 year old female min pin down in October 2018. Both had diabetes. He couldn't stand up anymore. And she stroked out at the vet.. Now we have a little puggle to teach him about camping
