Meet our newest addition #4 the little white one. His birth name was Jack, but my wife changed it to Romeo. He is 3.5 lbs and 18 weeks now, you see him here laying together with our 85 lbs retired Greyhound. Romeo is already litter trained just like our other Chi Anya, her pic was posted earlier. Romeo has already been camping with us.

This is Cheech, our 10 yr. old male Chihuahua/Terrior mix. Cheech is giving us the raspberry.
We tell people he's a Show Dog, 'cause he likes to show off.

Trouble and Grumpy
This is our new Puppy, Sawyer, just turned one.
This is my dog Westbury AKA Gator dog, Devil Dog and the list goes on......
Gator dog is a great camper, canoeist, and all around companion but I have to watch him as he's a one man dog. Got a bad rep but it's getting better. Sawyer is still a work in training but he'll learn......

Missie the Killer Yorkie, aka Idiot Dog. If she can get it in her mouth she kills it, snakes, lizards, frogs, baby squirreles etc.

Our dogs
Our lab shown jumping is getting old, but she did not even hesitate to jump off this ledge which is about 8-10 feet above the water, the photo of the two labs, they had to be tied to a piece of driftwood which in turn had to be buried in the sand to keep them from disturbing everyone else on the beach, our golden retreiver is a rescue dog, who has a permantly broken hip, which doesn't even slow him down, EXCEPT, he can't swim, almost drown a few minutes after the picture was taken, he cannot kick with his broken leg, the pug, well, let's just say he looks good, but looks are deceiving.
Chocalate Labs: Hershey and Kahlua
Retriever: Jack
Pug: Mater (after tow mater)

After over 10 years, our little CHEECH passed away about 5 weeks ago(see post #23 of this thread). We miss him dearly and so does our daughter's POM.
We started searching for another camping partner and found KILO at an animal shelter. He's a Chihuahua/Terrier mix also. He took to us right away and so did we to him. He'll be making his first camping trip this coming weekend.

Here is my boy Bruno. We have had him since December 2009 and he was a rescue - so he has a special place in my heart and life. He is a pit bull mix and breaks all the stereotypes of the breed - if there is a dog that could make you love this breed, it's him! He is 40 lbs of pure love and he just ADORES camping. He is so low-key, never barks, loves to watch all the people and hang out by the fire.

It's not him breaking the stereotype of the breed, it's you breaking the stereotype of the owner. 9 times out of 10 it isn't the dog that is the issue, rather the owner. It's good, no...great, to see an owner that treats a dog with respect so that dog returns the favor. It's also great to see someone save a dog when they can. I commend you.
I had to put my dog (really my best friend) of almost 14 years down last month, so seeing all of your all's pictures doesn't make me sad, but it makes me miss him. I have another dog that, if I can get the puppy out of her and calm her down, will make another good friend. I'll try to post her picture soon.

well thank you. His story is a sad one. He was taken away by county officers due to neglect and abuse. He had been beaten and had an ingrown collar around his neck. If there was a dog that had the right to not trust people it was him yet all he ever wanted was love. I found him at the rescue group that took care of him and tried to get him on a healthy road again. We have had our fair share of ups and downs with him. He had horrible mange (from the stress of life), no hair on his neck or underside, huge nasty scabs and wounds all over his neck. He was terrified of collars but with time, love and a VERY expensive custom collar, he wears one with pride now. He is also a bit shy of "objects" like brooms, bats, big inflated balls, soccer balls. Took our kids some time to understand that he thought those things would hurt him. He is better with it now but will probably never fully trust a person holding an object like that while being near him.
Again, thank you. I have worked so very hard with him. He is crate trained, lead/leash trained, waits to be released for food, loves other dogs and cats, is gentle with my kids, knows how to crawl on cue, dances when asked...he is a spoiled baby and like I said - such a special dog. Sounds like you understand that "soul dog" thing with your elder yourself...well he is my soul dog. I am sorry you are missing your dog and hope that with time the new pup makes a special place in your heart as well.
