Most "tripawd" owners will tell you that "Tripod" is not a great name for their dog. Neither is "Lucky," as the old joke goes. Check out Tripawds Blogs Community Canine Cancer Dog Amputation Recovery Tips Help Advice Information for a great online forum (just like this one!) if you happen to own one of these special pups. She's a sweet, affectionate little girl, and if I ever found the person or persons that abused/neglected her to the point where it caused her to lose her leg, I would guaranteed not be very sweet and affectionate!

Most dogs are actually tripods with a spare.

In most cases, missing a leg doesn't slow them down much.

This is a pic of my old lab/ gsp, also Elvis. We had to put him down about 6 weeks ago at 13 1/2 years after a long struggle with crippling arthritis. He rode beside me in a sidecar on my Goldwing for approx, 80,000 km, more miles than most of the riders I've known. We sure miss the old boy- a dog of a lifetime.

sidecar- sorry to hear about Elvis. He's one fine looking friend and from the sound of it, he led a great life.

I think my dog likes camping more than I do. The second we start packing she is already running around the house crying.

Thanks, fishman. He was simply the best dog ever. Cash (our labradoodle) has some pretty big shoes to fill.

Our 3.....

.
Our "children" are a Japanese breed - Shiba Inu - the breed is older than 3000 years - the Akita was bred up in size from the Shiba

The 2 older ones are 1/2 Brother & Sister (same Daddy) - their names are SAKE & SUSHI (Japanese but they bark English). The new addition's name is KOBE (he's just learning English, but he practices a whole bunch !)

These are pics of when we brought 'em home - 10 years ago for SAKE & SUSHI, 2 years for KOBE...........enjoy (we do).....Bill

Sushi left - Sake right

the new guy, Kobe

Our Cairn Terrier does the same thing, but I think she's afraid we're going to leave her. Even though we never have.

Kobe is the most loving (tho, for some reason he's scared of children) - Sushi (the girl) is the head of the house and dominates Kobe - Sake, her 1/2 brother, tolerates her

Kobe w/a couple of his toys

I like this one of Sushi & Sake

.....Bill

I built a PVC frame that fills and fits in the space behind the truck's front seats - the 2 boys. Sake & Kobe, have beds atop that - high enough so they can look out when laying down

the girl, Sushi, enjoys the solitude of her "cave" (in a bed on the floor under the frame)

Sake has had 2 knee operations so he and I go for walks of about the same distance - the Wife enjoys long walks with Sushi & Kobe - it all works well.....Bill
