Just lost my camping buddy of 10 years, on Monday. Need some tips on how to cope with the profound loss, and make it through each day.
Since it was just her and I, every day for 10 years, I'm kind of leery to go camping again, alone, and getting another dog is out of the question.
Penny, 12 yrs. old. RIP sweet girl

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I too lost my camping buddy a couple of years back. Very much like a family member. I had a hard time the first few trips out but I know it sounds strange but I know my Wuppy would have wanted me to keep camping. She would not have wante me to be unhappy. We did not get another dog either allthough we were told we should. I don't think it would have been the same anyway. 3 years later and I still miss her but the world contiues to turn.
I hope and pray the best for you. I know how you feel

After looking at the Emperor site, I guess I built 5 Grandmother clocks, not grandfather ones.

Not to hijack the thread, but how do you tell a Grandmother clock from a Grandfather clock?

The height makes the difference - a Grandmothet clock is 5 feet or more high and a Grandfather clock is 6 feet or more high.
Both must be free standing.
I know because I once thought I wanted to build one from a kit and did some research.

So sorry!! We lost our girl Dakota last October. I still tear up at hearing stories like yours and thinking about her. She was our Hunting Retriever Champion and my husbands pride and joy as he trained her himself from 7 wks old. Having 2 others still with us helps. We sealed some of her ashes in shotgun shells so she will never miss a hunt and in her favorite spots we spread a little here and there. It's so hard and I feel so bad for you. Hugs. I know getting another doesn't sound like a great idea right now, but each one has a place in your heart, they are all different spots. We've lost 3 total over the years, but they all have a special spot.

I'm having Penny cremated and I'll keep half of her ashes at home and the other half in the trailer....that way she will always be with me. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Mosby and Mabel - our almost 11 and 10 year old Italian Greyhounds. Picking up our TT in a few weeks but I suspect they would not be good camping dogs. Mosby would love it but Mabel would be miserable. Better to leave them both together, safe and happy with the pet/house sitter for now!

Our 2 pugs. The black one is the girl & she loves watching and barking at the tv. She's very sassy & has to have her nose in everything. The tan boy is just happy with a couch and blanket.

My wife and I have two greyhounds and they both love camping. When we got our first one, we were not sure how she would with it is she is kind of shy and timid but she took really well. Our boy who is a real crazy thing loved it. I cannot pack up the truck on Fridays without the two of them howling and crying until I put them in the truck.
