They are amazing!! When I was in college my BF and I got a white shepherd puppy! As she grew we noticed the tip of one of her ears always laid over! She was such a cool dog!!!

Gyspy my old Shepherd had an ear that did that. We always used to tell her "ear up" and she would perk her ears and cock her head trying to understand. She was a really cool compainion and very smart.

They are smart!! I used to talk to her a lot....well I was in college and those were some emotional times.....and she would look at me, and cock her head to the side like she was understanding every little complaint or homesick tear I shed! Loved her so much!

Very nice. Love Dobies. Any problems with RV parks not allowing your Dobe?

No, she is generally the best behaved dog anywhere we go. When we walk she knows when it's time to behave and walk by my side showing off her beautiful stance, and when I let slack in the lead she's allowed to smell the roses so to speak. We can always tell who understands the breed, either their asking if they can pet Saphira or their grabbing up their dogs and children and walking the other way in fear. She is an incredible dog, the most loyal Velcro dog I've ever had the pleasure of having. She has her own camping chair that she stays in, heaven forbid she lay her body on the dirty ground.
It's not that we spoil her, but she sleeps under the covers right between the two of us. I chose the breed because I'm gone every third night on shift, she really does give my wife piece of mind when I'm gone.

Fred, the smiling dog I posted a picture of actually qualifies as a "designer dog".
Believe it or not, designer dogs sell for thousands out in CA. Reportedly cross breeds have less health problems and usually don't cause allergies in humans.
Amazing isn't it, that now they intentionally cross breed dogs and call 'em designer dogs, then sell 'em for thousands. Seriously, I've seen some of them sell for 5K.
We were told Fred is half Poodle and Half Doxy. I can *not* see any poodle. Imagine a Doxy with an Irish Setter coat. DH just says he's a four legged commercial for Valium. I've never seen such a laid back dog......UNTIL he spots a ......

Speaking of dogs.........
On the first day, God created the dog and said, sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this I will give you a life span of twenty years.
The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"
And God said that it was good.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span."
The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"
And God again said that it was good.
On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."
The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"
And God agreed it was good.
On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."
But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"
"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."
So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service. If you are looking for me I will be on the front porch

Thanks. I had a Dobie when I was a teenager into my mid 20's. She lived to be about 15 years old. I had the time then to spend with her and showed her obedience. She was the best dog ever. Now I have two little yappy dogs (something I said I would never do) but don't ever say never - they work into your heart as well. When we retire, and I have more time to devote to a Doberman, I will get another one! And yes, my Dee dog didn't want to be on the dirt either!

So many remarkably beautiful dogs every time I check this thread!
Here's G.G. now almost a year old (10 months) playing on the lower Tahquamenon falls in U.P. of Michigan.

Mistie is 7+ years old - a rescue from Wake County NC Animal Shelter. I've had dogs all my life and she's without a doubt the best yet. Mild mannered, beautiful, well behaved. We walk everywhere - she walks at heel without a leash. She's the perfect campground dog, cause she NEVER, EVER barks, loves everyone.
