Don't forget, YOU have to take the 5er BACK to the dealer. You said they are 650 miles one way? Who's paying for the fuel for their mix-up? Sorry, I'm pretty easy going but I think I'd tell them since I have to bring the 5er back for their mistake, I'll pay for the fuel, they swallow the big pill and pay for the toppers AND labor. Oh, and yeah, I'd tell the "Order Taker" to shove the 50" tv.

As mentioned, you are being extremely generous to consider agreeing to pay a second time for something you already paid for at purchase.

I agree with this! Plus if you think that they will install all of the covers in (1) day while you Wait I would plan on staying over or making Several 650 Mile Trips! Youroo!!

I bought 1 travel trailer from Berryland. Never again. The sales people were OK. The trailer had been sitting on the lot for a while, so they said they would clean the roof and touch up the Dicor sealer. Didn't get a ladder and look at it before I picked it up. They said it was done but it wasn't touched. The service department sucks. Took it back for minor repairs. 6 weeks to get it back.

Thanks to everyone for the input. Here's my take on the situation...

As I recall, the Order Taker added about $400 for slide toppers onto the original order. I got a tv instead.

I'm getting $700 off the slide topper installation.

I'll be driving past the dealership. I full time. I left Savannah, Ga., I'm now in the Mobile Al. area for another ten days, wending my way out slowly west to San Antonio Tx. Maybe a couple of weeks in the Biloxi/Gulfport Ms. area then on to Louisiana and the dealer. I'll make the Service appointment accordingly and ask to stay overnight in one of their RV sites. The Service lady said Tuesday is the best day to get the work done in one day.

With thanks, I figure that I am well ahead of the game as without the suggestions from the forum, most likely I would have accepted the Order Taker's proclamation as the final word.

Sounds like you've made a decision. Best of luck to you. You sound like a generous person.

I would have to question though... if the dealer quoted $400 for the original slide topper installation, I wonder why they now want $2,200 or $1,400 (from the OP) to install them? Sounds like they are covering their costs but not giving the OP a break. Shame on them.

The lack of return phone calls and all the hassle is the exact reason I will not buy from any dealer more than 2 hours away. No return calls and I show up at the dealer and have a conversation face to face. My latest purchase is 12 minutes from my office. Any issues and I drive up and sort it out, it's easier to get things going face to face.
