Nice, well I am back and forth all winter to Ft. myers and I know what it's like to unload one RV to another on the road. If I'm around and you need anything or a place to stay for a night let me know. We live in a gated community so you can't just pull in, empty the sh#%^er and say that there's an RV Steve. And don't be fallin in love with it cause we're taking it with us when we leave next month. I sent you a PM with my phone number, lots of options in the FM area. Easier to talk than try and write them all down.

Good Luck Doug hope you can make the deal on the camper. I think you pretty well got the use out of your 5er. Just remind me not to look for a 5er there Later RJD

Well crap. RV Kountry told me to take a long walk off a short pier- they aren't willing to deal.

RVTrader has a good 6-10 matching units for less $8-10k than RV Kountry's price. I offered to meet his price, but I needed a handful of things swapped. The sales manager got pissy and demanded to see my rig before proceeding with negotiations. As part of that discussion, I offered to (and did) email my wish list and list of known defects with the current rig.

Tonight he emailed and said "no deal".

Guess I'm going for a drive to buy a camper. But eff me, I don't have time for this right now.

Give him a day or two and call the sales manager back. One last chance, then bye Felicia

Probably will. I sent him a response telling him that I really thought we were buying a camper Monday, that I had financing pre-approved, and that I wasn't intending to be unreasonable with pricing.

Shouldn't be this hard, though.

This is why some companies grow and others wilt on the vine.

When my in-laws were looking for a MH years ago, they asked me to help negotiate with a small dealer. They were pretty stuck on the unit they wanted and it was local. Lost count of the trips to the dealer and the negotiations really got heated at times. My MIL was embarrassed to be present. I advised her that if we got the deal, we would never see them again. We stayed tough and the in-laws got their got their price.

Times are good for the RV dealers today, but with all of the competition and choices, they have to be realistic. If the inventory doesn't turn, they don't eat. They may have you by the short hairs if you were dealing on a '54 Corvette, but this is just another camper. Maybe a hard sell at that. Advise them, this is not your first rodeo. If you have the ammo showing they are not competitive, they may eventually bend. Or, if they continue to tell you to take a hike, just tell them that we now have a plan-call me or our paths shall never again meet.

This had to have been the strangest purchase of all time. By all accounts and measures, I was handing RV Kountry a deal on a silver platter. I was letting them sell the camper for $8-10k more than most everyone else in the country but in turn wanted a handful of upgrades + a bunch of stuff moved.

I felt like I had to convince them to take it. They ultimately did but man- so weird.

So anyway, just this morning- I agreed to financing and we set a pickup/transition date in mid-February.

I'll soon be changing my signature line to a 2018 Spartan 1245!

p.s. soon going to be listing things for sale!

And the soap opera continues. They’re backpedaling on promises to swap and move items from my current rig to the new one- about $2,000 in labor, they say. My fault for not getting it properly in writing, though I did ask and was assured an attached paper to the contract was sufficient.

Had 2 unpleasant discussions where I was told that my wife and I are confused. And I ultimately called the deal off.

So now, I’ll start looking at other dealers who have this same unit for $8-9k less.

There is at least 4 more dealers (much larger) 2 miles down the road.

There are, but there are only about a dozen of the model camper we want (Prime Time Spartan 1245) in the country. They had the only one in Florida, which is why I was willing to deal with their stupidity.

I dealt with that when I bought my truck last year. I almost cancelled the entire deal because of the idiot in the finance office.
