RV Wholesalers
In the process of purchasing a Puma XLE 25FBC. So far the process is going well. The guy pushing the extended warranty is a bit much. I guess that is to be expected.

Heard that they want you, or insist that you use their financing. True?

Anytime I buy an new RV (did that 2 years ago) I don't dicker on price because I've already used the net to determine a fair selling price, so, shoot me your price and if it's not a good one, I go elsewhere. never been one to dicker.
Don't offer me things like your extended warranty or that crap and I tell any drummer that up front and if they cannot remember what I told them, I walk out.
Having said all that, the last unit I bought came from Outpost RV in Goshen, Indiana. Nice people to deal with, no pressure, no sales pitch and their unquibbled price was just fine with me. Good service department too.

Saw on their Craigslist ads camper would cost more to pay cash. Had to finance through them to get the quoted price.

Simple answer really. When you finance through their 'recommended lending institution' they get a 'kick back' for lack of a better term. That is commonplace in business dealings. They get a percentage back on the financing. Just like the 'extended third party warranty game, the dealer gets financially rewarded for selling the warranty product.
It's all legal and it don't impact them Other than their bottom line). It impacts you because you get to pay for it.

True, but as long as the loan can be satisfied early; just pay it off after delivery or refinance with someone else. Nothing wrong with playing the game, so long as you know the rules.
I would be leery of an early repayment penalty though.

The stipulation is you have to stay with their financing for a year.
When you take that into account the overall price is mediocre at best from my attempted dealings with them.

Herk: Under Federal truth in lending laws. unless the lender is a completely private entity, there can be no pre-payment penalty. That is Rule 53S and it apples to all loans made through FDIC insured lending institutions. and has to be plainly stated (in small print) on the application and acceptance form.
It's always a game to be sure, but knowing the rules of engagement can benefit you.

Just to clarify, the only reason you have to keep the loan for one year is we give you the money the bank gives us for your loan. The bank after one year does not want their money back. I tell people to pay the loan off on your first payment, just leave enough on it to make 11 more payments. Then you pay basically nothing in interest? Make sense? Thank you all for your kind words.

The real key to how much you pay on that one year loan is whether or not it is a simple interest loan or one which uses the archaic "rule of 78s". Some dealers still use the "rule" to inflate the amount of interest you pay even when you pay early.
I would walk away from any deal that required me to pay on a loan for one year, regardless of the tricks they come up with. Too many things can happen in a year that might get you better terms somewhere else.

TeachTexas, we don't decide what the interest is on the loan, the bank does. Not sure about rule of 78's never heard of it. My problem might be I am a school teacher and not used to trying to screw people. We run a very straight forward and honest business. You can buy from us without financing, we just thought one day, if the bank gives us money for you taking out a loan, shouldn't you get that money? So we started giving it to customers. No master plan, no deceiving people. Just trying to help our customers. Hope this helps you understand us better.
