Timberview RV

All,

Wanted to let everyone know of the bad experiences I had with Timberview RV in the Chicagoland area.

I had my 36CKtS in for service work and since it was getting on toward November and they still had the unit, I asked them to winterize it. They did a good job of blowing out the water lines but all that water had to go somewhere, the grey tank. Come February I had my unit inside and found water running out of the bottom of the unit. To make a long story short they didn't drain the grey tank and the line from the tank to the valve froze and burst. When it thawed out when I had it inside the water ran out of the bottom of the trailer.

After having that fixed at a different repair shop I contacted Timberview and asked them why they didn't drain the tank and they replied they had no way or place to drain it. When asked about them providing me reimbursement for the drain line repair they basically said, NO.

Thanks for the review. I drain my black and grey water tanks before leaving a camp ground and let my fresh water tank empty while driving back from a campsite, so the only water the water left to blow out of lines while winterizing (after water heater is drained by removing the anode and closing by-pass valves) is the little bit of water actually left in the lines. I don't think that this would be enough water to completely fill the grey-water discharge line between the tank and the valve, so freezing would not have exerted enough force to burst. That little amount of water from blowing out the lines could have been run into a 5-gallon bucket and dumped down a toilet, so the excuse of not having a dumping site "doesn't hold water".

If you took the camper to the dealership with empty fresh-water and grey/black water tanks for repairs with the only water left in your pump and lines, the dealer is certainly at fault.

I have had very good service from the dealer "Timberview" in Frankfort IL. I have had my 2016, 34RL that has been serviced several times there and they have done excellent work on my unit.

But under no circumstance would I let any dealer winterize my trailer. This is something I need to do in order to insure that the trailer has been winterized to my standards.

Another point if the dealer is only blowing out the water lines than a little anti-freeze placed into the gray tank would have keep that from freezing.

Sorry you had issues and I agree... the water in the grey tank could have easily been drained into a 5 gallon bucket. (provided you didn't leave it at the dealer with the tank already containing a bunch of liquid) Also... if they knew they couldn't dump the grey tank, $2 worth of R/V antifreeze dumped in the tank could have prevented this.

How about your sink/shower traps? Did you check those?
How about the water pump and the suction/strainer? None of these will have the water evacuated by just blowing out. I'd be checking for other issues.

Best of luck!
