2009 Sabre 32 BHTS Rear Utility Rack

I have a couple of questions regarding generators and the rear utility rack (steel mesh) on the rear of our Sabre. **This is not the bike rack I've seen in other pics on the forum.** The specs indicate it can support up to ~450lbs. Our generator is approx 100lbs w/out fuel and oil.

1. Have you had any problems with factory utility rack? (visions of it or our generator falling off on a forest service road or even worse the freeway)

2. Do you store/secure your generator or other heavy items (e.g. firewood) on the rack?

3. If you use your utility rack to store your generator, can you recommend a nice set of tie downs/ratchet straps? Or what you found to be the most secure way of keeping the generator from tumbling down the road.

I'm nervous about storing the generator back there so I'm looking at an alternative to my truck bed. I have a shortbed Dodge 3500 megacab and space is somewhat of a premium with the hitch. And the basement of our camper is out-just not enough room and the generator isn't exactly easy to get in and out of cramped spaces.

Our generator is the Champion 3500w, so it's not as small as the Honda or Yamaha.

Best Regards,
Mike

I carry a dirt bike and mountain bike on my Saber rack without issue.
