36QBOK-7 Bunkhouse TV Mount

I bought a swing arm mount and a 28" Samsung LCD TV to mount in the bunkhouse for the kids to watch TV and play the Wii when the weather is bad. It has a backerboard. From what I have read by searching this forum is that the backerboard is made of metal so I will need to use sheet metal screws. My mount has placement for two lag screws which are 1/4" diameter and 2 1/2" long. How long of a sheet metal screw should I use? 2 1/2" would probably cut it close going through the back of the fifth wheel. The mount weighs 10 lbs. and the TV weighs 10 lbs.

Thanks in advance.

They used 1" to 1,:1/4" screws on mine and there was a high spot "titty" on my rear wall. I backed the screw up and put some washers on it, cause I didnt want it ( screw tip) to break thru the gel coat.
I see no reason to have over half an inch - 3/4" of screw going into the wall.
And dont use a self taper screw, drill it with something limiting the depth. After going thru the backer, reference that to a screw. U dont need more than a thread past the tip of the screw on the other side of the backer.
I'm afraid if you use a 2.5" lag, more than half will be sticking threw the wall.
Good luck!!

LOL. I think I will pick up some Phillips head sheet metal screws. #14 3/4" screws should work well with my mount. I just drilled some extra holes so I can anchor the mount with 6 screws instead of 2. I think this should be able to hold 20lbs.
