Isn't the 365saq more weight then the sabre all the way around ?
Higher pin weight but SLIGHTLY lower ship weight.

Brandon, if you PM golfmedic (I think- check the 365SAQ threads for the right name)... he's done extensive weighing of his rig and can provide you guidance on actual weights.

I thought it was about the same weight or a little less for some reason. I will have to go back and look.

Ok, I've moved the portion of the thread where we're discussing/debating "staying within specs vs. exceeding them" to it's own thread ( seen here).
I apologize in advance if I was biased in my editing of this thread and made it appear that "staying within specs" is the only answer. That was not my intention.
dustman_stx makes some excellent points.

Yes. And, I've separated the debate/discussion thread into it's own since I was a major hijacker of this original thread.

Probably the right thing to do. My answer to the OP's original question....I am not, and from all the discussion here, havent yet heard from anyone else that is.

Just looking at the advertised pin weights for all the sabre 5ers they are all about 1800 -2000 lbs. what is the average available payload of a 2/4 ton truck.

Just remember, the advertised pin weight is artificially and unrealistically low.

To answer the second part of your question- I don't know what 3/4-ton trucks payloads typically run.
As well, I think I mentioned before- I was surprised how much payload my add-one and family ate up per my scale receipts.

I know they are low. If you use real world pin weights then a 3/4 on truck is not capable of pulling anything more than an atv trailer by the time you add people and a hitch . A regular gooseneck trailer unloaded probally exceeds the the payload of most. 3/4 ton trucks.

You're probably very right. I've read here that most people with 3/4 ton trucks exceed GVWR but are comfortable as long as they're under the rear axle and tire weight ratings.

Wish I would have taken a picture of my '10 F250 sticker, but I want to say available was somewhere in the 2300 lb. range. I could be way off base here though.

Is that not what is the limiting factor? If the trailer is level and the truck is level and the tire/axle limits are not exceeded what is the problem if the eng will pull it?

There's already a thread on exceeding ratings or not. Let's keep that discussion there.
Thanks.

Please don't just conclude that if you need a 1-ton that it needs to be a dually. Going to a 1-ton adds about 1000# of payload, and going DRW adds another 1000#. If you need 1000 more, but not 2000 more, then you don't have to go dually!
