3rd party PDI inspection ??

Has anyone found or used a 3rd party company to perform full PDI on a unit prior to shipping? We will be getting a unit but it will be delivered to us via RVW. I would like to do a PDI on it before it leaves the dealer to address any issues and not sure I fully trust a PDI done by dealer alone.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I wish I could help you with a referral. I have always thought that an enterprising sort could make a decent living if they advertised an independent PDI inspection service in Lakeview, OH for RVW customers.

I have heard more good than bad experiences from people with RVW but an independent service would give a lot of people who have the TT shipped a little more piece of mind.

Good luck and congrats on your new camper!

Look up Mobile RV tech on craigslist under SERVICES section. A mobile RV tech may be willing to do a PDI for you. I was at my local Camping World and found mobile RV techs there also.

Marine industry has what they call Surveyors. Surveyor does a very thorough checkout kind of like a PDI or home inspection before you buy your used/new boat. RV industry should have the same thing but they are few and far between when I went to research this last year.

I think its a great idea!!! Too many people take home serious malfunctions. Better to have a thorough inspection before you take delivery. After you take delivery, it's all about the struggles of warranty work.

I would request-------------------------

I would request a special PDI at the factory before it leaves the factory. I was told about every 12-15th unit is only PDI inspected at the factory. I would request it by the factory because where it is being shipped. Make sure the factory PDI is certified it was done before leaving the factory because where you live.

It may delay your delivery bay a week or so, but it would be worth it.

My suggestion

Partly right.

I understand that each individual factory does a pdi on every trailer as it moves down the line with a final at the end.
Then a random trailers are sent to a third party pdi down the road.

I seen both happen on the factory tour taken at the Indiana /sabre plant.

In Reply to Daisy and Turbs, if they are doing PDI on the line , with every 12 being pulled for special, scares me how much is missed on the line. I keep thinking back to the photo showing the floating electrical outlet with the gnarly luan cut our about 1/2" to big??

At the sabre tour there was no less than three people doing a moving pdi on each and every unit as it was in the final stages of Being done.

Don't you think that's probably because there were tours going on?

Imo ?
No .

Those of them doing a moving pdi knew what they were doing ......
They were up down back and forth with arm fulls of tape.
If they found something that wasn't right they would throw a piece of tape on it then write on the tape what was wrong then move on.

Ill look and see if I got a pic.

Look close to the passenger side cap, there's a piece of blue tape that the lady just stuck on there.
