The truck I traded in toward the one I have now, had the 5.4 gas with 120,000 and had no issues with the plugs etc... like "They" said I would.
Having just come back from Disney's Fort Wilderness, I would conservatively say the ratio ( for large fifth wheel campers ) of Ford SD 6.7's was something like 6/10, and the rest 3/10 GMC/Chevy and Dodge bringing up the rear. Just saying, not bashing .
I would say too that Ford has done a great job quieting down these motors. It was much nicer not having to listen to the louder, older diesels of yesterday. DuraMax and Cummins will respond to this matter sooner than later, I'm sure.
I am glad you have been fortunate. My DF still drives a V 10 f 250,and has only had one Chevy truck as long as I can remember. I put a lot of miles on my work trucks. Actually 1200000 is not all that many mi. and that was a gas engine, the cylinder pressure, and fuel pressures are much different, compared to diesel. The ratio of those who will Not trade those SD's and D Max trucks before they reach 200+ thousand mi.is maybe 1 in 10. (I know I can't back that up with any real numbers) but you know what I mean. Point is if you are going to keep a diesel trk for a long time, I promise you will spend more keeping the ford on the road. Just my bs opinion !
If you are going to trade at 80-100 th mi. take you're pick, it doesn't matter. If you can pull what you need with a gas motor, that is the most economical.
Good luck and enjoy, whatever the choice!

Not yet, it is rumored the 2014 will though. Mine uses diesel in regen. I now have 6500 mi .and have not had a regen cycle. The truck does pull very reg.,like every or every other day.

I think Dodge will have DEF for their 14's. Last year, a Dodge dealer salesman told me that because Dodge/Cummins didn't make the 'deadline' for the EPA, that Dodge would be cutting a $4500 check ( to the feds )for every diesel truck they sold, until they become compliant.

I thought the 13's used DEF. Also just a FYI, they are no longer "Dodge Rams". They are "Ram Trucks" and are their own division now.

Or so I've been told...

Mine says Ram on the outside and in all the manuals, but the little tray in the center top of the dash says Dodge

I believe that if you check the ram with the cummins only has the Aisin trans if you buy a 4500/5500 The smaller rams do not get this trans. I have 2 new dodges with it but they are both 5500's. As far as def, early 2500's didn't use it, but, now they all do. My new F250 will run over 5k on 5 gals of def. Yes it is just one more thing to cost money and to have to work on, however, it is part of the epa and at least it doesn't use a lot and it is fairly inexpensive. If you have an oil supplier near you, give them a call and ask about buying it. I get it for 7.00 per 2.5 gal jug
