A/C Cooling Issues

I recently purchased a Columbus 377MB with two ac units. The unit is not staying cool during the heat of the day. The dealer had to replace the rear unit but this has not fixed the problem. The in and out air temp at the ac does remain about 20 degrees difference. My questions are, is anyone else having this problem? Any tips to help keeping he RV cool? His is the third fifth wheel we have owned, so I know it should be cooler. Thank you in advance for any advise.

If the A/C maintains a delta-T of 20ºF and there's no air leakage between the intake and return, then it's doing all it can do, and the RV is gaining more heat than the A/C's are able to offset.

Is there any shade where you're parked?
Are you in a hot, humid environment?

Is your roof black or Brown?

If so, they may look awesome but they don't cool worth a darn.

No shade. RV is on blocks on a permenant site in Virginia. It has not been too hot this summer so far. Will roof vents help or placing additional installation? On a 85 degree day the interior temp wil usually get to about 80 in living room and 85 in bedroom.

Read the entire thread from the beginning. If you have any questions just PM me. I think you should have no problems.

Use metal foil tape on all air handler seams and use spray adhesive on both the air handler metal and the Mylar insulated sheet. Let both dry well before sticking them together. Remember it WILL NOT BE MOVABLE once they touch each other. Cut around the product sticker and the door to the electronics and just tape those insulation pieces in place so you can access the information and the capacitors easily.

Did you insulate your ac unit? And did it help get your rv cooler? My 39 ft rv has only 1 ac unit and it can't keep it cool. It is running correctly . We had it checked out.

Make sure that you close the "night shades" on the windows facing the sun. Keep going in and out of the camper to a minimum. Dont use theoven if possible on hot days. Two A/Cs should do the job on 85 degree days.

May want to check if the ducts are sealed where they terminate in front cap or rear wall/ cap. I have a Columbus 381FL that ducts were not sealed and was losing air out the front cap. Once sealed made a lot of difference. In addition you may want to consider dual pane windows.

I have the exact same 2017 camper, just had mine at dealer for 2.5 weeks. I own air conditioning company and told them what was wrong, factory was no help finally have them two options. Unit is short on air flow, roof is to restrictive, they could either add a return directly under units with dump zone dampers for quick cooling or remove entire roof and rebuild. Factory never did get back to dealer but they put in returns and that done the trick. I will add pictures later for you.

Limo tint

If you have the windows limo tinted, paint your front door window, put insulation and foil bubble wrap in your skylight, your unit will stay a lot cooler. Once we had over 100 degree heat and it was so hot, so we put a water hose on the roof and let it run to cool off the roof. This should help you be cooler.
