AC / Furnace come on @ same time

2017 Solaire 267 BHSK - took it home from dealer and was trying out the heat. When furnace comes on the air conditioning unit blows at the same time. Digital thermostat. Is it possible to change this setting so only the furnace comes on without fresh outside air (I'm in a fairly cold climate)

Go to Fan setting on Thermostat and change to Auto. In Hi and Lo speeds, it runs the AC fan to help circulate warm air near ceiling.

Make sure your fan setting is on auto.If you have it on anything else the fan runs all the time.

Looks like we all answered at the same time.

I have a soldier also. Make sure the fan setting on the thermostat is set to "auto" and this should fix your problem.

Congrats on your new rig.

As many have said, setting the digital thermostat to AUTO will keep the A/C fan from running. It will run if the setting is on LO or HI

Unfortunately, your dealer failed to give you some very basic RV 101 advice about how some of the systems work. Also, many folks come here thinking this is a problem. (when the A/C runs with the furnace) It is not, it is an option. Shame on the dealer for not fulfilling his obligations.

Warm air rises so the manufacturer (Dometic) gives you the option of running the A/C fan to help distribute that warm air throughout the camper. This is something a competent RV dealer should know and explain to you during the customer orientation.

Also, your A/C unit isn't pulling in any 'fresh' outside air. The air in the camper is recirculated throughout. This applies to both the A/C and the furnace. They are closed systems to the outside. The furnace for the purpose of not depleting oxygen (for combustion) inside the camper and the A/C for the purpose of using already cooled air to help continue to cool.

That's why it is always a good idea to utilize any vent fans/windows to initially draw the heat out of your camper when first firing up the A/C. If you can drop the inside temperature several degrees by running the vent fan(s) along with opening a window for a few minutes, you'll allow the A/C unit to get a jump on cooling your rig.

Enjoy!
