Black tank handle

The black tank handle is becoming very difficult to pull out and push back

in. Is there a fix? Or am I heading to the RV repairman?

Thanks for any help,

mikemj

Silicone lube for the shaft and seals to loosen things up. They do need some care. Is it tough because of age or is the gate seeming to be bound up on "something."

I have heard that you can pour a bottle of veggie oil in the tank to coat the valve to lube it.....never tried it......

I may be wrong but doesn't most tank treatments have seal lube in them as well?

The lubricating thing sounds like the way to go. I would make sure I was "hooked up"prior to opening and closing that honey wagon

Lubricateing the valves at every use with a non petroleum bassed lube will prevent this. Note that many silicone sprays have a mineral oil carrier that will swell and ruin the seals. Ive used "fluid film" on mine for the last 10 yrs or so ,it is lanolin, and Ive never, in nearly 50 years of doing this replaced a valve. Before "fluid film" I used "pam" or any other veggie oil cooking spray, but the fluid film rocks. And I do not sell it.

Why certainly......the cooking oil softens up the rubber slightly and like a lite grease, fills any voids temporally... need to let it sit for a day or two in bowl. Been hold'n water for 2 months now.

Can someone explain how you apply the spray? All I have is a handle at the end and it disappears behind my enclosed bottom...?

I have a blank tank oull they is really getting to be hard to push back (and pulling is a little difficult.

I had same problem. I had to pull the handle so hard I thought it would break. I tried spraying some lube into the cable but to no avail. When at Goshen, the fine folks at Cedar Creek replaced the cable (not the valve) and now it is a "two finger" pull/push.

Fluid Film is light years ahead of pam.I use it on hinges, locks, chain drives and sprockets, anything that moves . Its the only spray lube in my tool box (in the toy hauler).I guess the biggest thing is the little wand you can insert into the nozzel so it doesnt spray where you dont want it.

Make sure all of your tanks are empty. Open the valve (pull the handle) spray what ever you are using on the shaft and close and open several times. Repeat other tank valves.
