Bypass Shower Door Handle

Can anyone inform me as to a way to make this stay put. I have tried several times as well as my dealer. At this point I am not sure if the rubber insert (which seems to be in poor shape) should be glued to the aluminum handle or if it all just stays put with compression. I do not seem able to spread the handle enough to get it to seat on the glass. Any assistance is appreciated. The glue residue might be from one of my earlier attempts to fix it. I just do not remember.

I removed all of the existing glue and rubber, covered the edge of the glass with a strip of electrical tape and the attached the handle with exterior grade silicone adhesive and let it set for 24 hours.

More info Please

Hey MCRA46;

Are you talking about adhesive like Gorilla Glue or Liquid nails or more of a calking?

Thanks
