Camping plans for 2015

For those of us that are still working stiffs, and you live in an area that is in the middle of winter, you plan and dream about the upcoming camping season. The DW and I do most of our camping in state parks where most of them use the 6 month reservation window. So we have been busy making plans for spring camping and our big vacation trip. With the assistance of Vern (fellow Forum member) we have our trip to the UP in Michigan and lower portion of the state all planned and reserved. We have 29 nights booked so far and we still have several months of the season we can't reserve into yet.

Come on spring! And the RV show coming to town in mid-January!

Randy, if you are still working and already have 29 days booked---you are way ahead of me. But I have an ace up my sleeve. I am planning on retiring April 1st! Maybe then I can keep up with your schedule. I will be in our TT and heading south in early April. Can't wait.

Congrats on the upcoming retirement! Unfortunately I am probably still about 10 years from that. We try to get out every other weekend from the first of April to the end of October. Of course we catch all the three day holiday weekends and our big vacation trip each season. Hopefully we can make it out somewhere south again at Thanksgiving as we did this last year.

Enjoy the open road and take time to smell the roses!

As long as I have you here, my wife and I hope to be camping in southern Indiana about mid-April and near Memphis for a few days after that. You are pretty close to those areas. We also state park camp, as you do. Do you have any suggestions for state parks or private campgrounds in those areas. I could trade you some UP ideas. Thanks.

DW and I are going to Fort Collins, CO. We will visit grandchildren and our kids while we are there. Going to the coast of Texas in February for 4 days to rest up from Holidays.

Hi guy's. Dw & I also camp at state parks exclusively. We live in sc and travel all over sc, ga, & fla.we already have 70 days booked for this year . it's great to be retired. LOL. In sc, the park system put up a bunch of campgrounds at the first of the year at half price if you reserved by black Friday. Needless to say, we will be camping at a lot of new to us campground. This year. Happy trails to all

Congratulations GlacierGus on your upcoming retirement and good luck in your travels. We made the move last year and have enjoyed our travels ever since. Please don't overlook Corps of Engineer campgrounds. Most have paved sites with 50/30AMP service and water. Most have sewer dumps though. One of our favorites is at Cheatham Lake Lock and Dam on the Cumberland River east of Nashville, TN. Half the sites are within casting distance of the lake. Some barge traffic, but quiet most of the time. Lot of locals camp here and leave their units during the week as long as they can (14 days), so make reservations early.
