Can brakes squeek?

I have a 2012 solaire, bhsk and it seems the brakes squeek a lot when rolling. On the way home from the mountains and stopped overnight. Checked the grease in the bearings before leaving and prior to return home trip. Noise can go away when bake applied. Thoughts??? More noise than I like

How many miles did you put in four years?

Probably around 12000 miles, I backed off the brake shoes a couple nothes, it seemed to help. Going to enlist my son and soninlaw to help me take apart and inspect. Going to Madisonville la in two weeks for the wooden boat festival.
