Smile Cleaning Awning Stains

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the stain out from the underside of the awning?
We just recently purchased a 2007 Palomino Puma 19 ft and looks like someone has put up the awning before it dried and it the color part has stain the underside.

Welcome to the site!

There's been some recent discussions on this topic. You should be able to find suggestions by using the "Search" feature listed at the top of the page. I'm sure members will also drop by and offer feedback. My unit is still somewhat new so I don't have any experience to offer.

Mix about a 1/2 cup of bleach and a gallon of water with some liquid soap in it and broom it on, roll up the awning for about 15-20 minutes, unroll, scrub and rinse. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR CLOTHES YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT AS THE BLEACH WILL DO A NUMBER ON THEM!

Welcome!

There are instructions in the manual (attached).
I also use Westley's Blech White Tire Cleaner for the tough spots.

Thumbs up

Sorry Terier, I did Search but I do believe I wasn't searching in the wrong search box.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm going to try both of them. I just love this forum so many helpful suggestions. I could spend hours reading.

Sorry it didn't work for you. When I did the search for "cleaning awning" and selected FRF (not Google) a new page will opened with a list of posts relating to the topic along with a list on the right of adverts. Are you getting this too?

Looks like some members have already share suggestions. You are right about being able to spend hour after hour here learning something new or joining in various discussions.

I was getting the same thing but it seem to be going to google. Finally noticed the Search right below FRF and Google. I wanted to stay on the sight not be directed some where else.

Does this site also take donations to keep the sight going?

I am not involved in the finances of this site (Janet is the Primary admin) but I think we are doing OK. Some folks complain about the ads, but the ad engine seems to work pretty good. If you noticed, most times that ad being displayed has relevance with the topic you are looking at.

If the question is about a valve for example, "most times" a web site having to do with plumbing hardware is displayed. "Magic" I think.

I was given a tip for awning cleaning a couple of years ago....no fuss, no elbow grease and fairly low cost. The Mr. Clean Magic Erasers! I have even used a cheaper brand and works just as well.
Have 2 buckets/containers - one for the eraser and one for a cloths (I prefer J-clothes). Work in a 2 x 2 section - start with the sponge and then wipe with the moistened clean cloth.
After a few wipes you will notice how dirty your water has become....empty containers and refill with clean water and continue in your 2 x 2 sections until complete.
I have done this on inside and outside of awning and also on the outside of the RV taking away all the dirty that just sticks to it.
I have have done the bleach method, RV purchased cleaners etc and the results and efforts do not compare to the Magic Erasers!!!!

Easy Awning Cleaning

After using many different products to try to clean my awning, I found one that works ... is easy to apply, and then wipe off.. No stain to clothes...awning looks like new... The product is called I0SSO and I bought it at Cabelas.. You just mix it with water, apply..let set and wipe or hose off... and you get enough of it to last a lifetime.. Not expensive.. approx $12..

We have a huge silver maple by our trailer and the gunk that falls from it is nasty, after awhile the green slim that builds up is gross...not to mention all the fluffies that fall off of it every mid May...looks like a snow storm! But the Magic Eraser tackles the gunk with little effort.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Just got back from Myrtle Beach and we need to work again on the underside of the awning this week.
It almost looks like it's the dye from the color part of the awning. Has anyone ever had this problem. Surely it wouldn't bleed on the white.

All I can say is wow: I did the 1/2 cup of bleach in a gallon of water and some Dawn dishwashing liquid, sprayed/dumped it onto the awning, rolled it up, waited 30 min, unrolled and hosed it off. I can't believe what a good job it did. There's still a few spots/stains that I'll have to get (Magic Eraser?) but its WAY better than it was before. Thanks to everyone for this suggestion!
