Columbus 295rl vs320rs

I am looking at these two models. The 295 is two feet shorter and some minor floor plan differences. For those that looked at these two which one and why did you choose. Also they are about the same price. I have a 2014 GMC crew cab short box diesel.What hitch did you choose and will it need air bags. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I looked at both and went with the 320, the movable island did it for us, I have ford f250 and have the 15 k hitch from my old toy hauler. I do have air bags but again they are from my toy hauler which was heavier and longer. Plus only 600 lbs from the two. You won't go wrong with either one. Hope that helps.

We to chose the 320 because of the moveable island. We have a B&d companion 18K with air bags. We chose this one because we also pull a 3 horse goose neck trailer with living quarters

We picked the 320 based upon the floor plan. We winter in Texas for 3 months and are at the lakes in Minnesota in the spring and fall. In all we spend about 6-7 months and really like the space that the 320 gives us. With the moveable island if the kids come up to spend some time with us we can move the island and throw down a air mattress for the kids and the adults can use the fold out couch. Works out very well.
As to the TV we have a F250 SD diesel and find that it pulls it quite well. I do have a 16K slider hitch that was used with an earlier 5th wheel. In two seasons of travel I have yet to use the slider function. When in Texas we have a friend who has a 320 and a GMC short bed 2500. He has installed air bags mainly to reduce the choppy ride. He also is using a PullRite auto sider. You might want to do some checking to see if a slider hitch is needed with your vehicle.
We also ordered ours with the theater seating. For us they are not very comfortable and we plan on replacing them with Lazy Boy recliners at some point. Tried to order ours minus the recliners but they wouldn't allow much of a discount for the deleting.

We also bought the 320rs in 2013 because we didn't want to look at the Entertainment system at an angle but rather straight across from us as we sit in the reclining theater seats. The moveable island is also a Hugh plus. We have been almost completely trouble free with just a few (minor) things that needed attention from me. The weight and length difference are very minor once you are underway. According to some stats from the Columbus Facebook group, the 320 outsells the next closest Columbus model by better than 2 to 1. We tow with a Dodge 2500 diesel crew cab 4X4 long bed and use a Pull rite 16k hitch with no need for air bags. Good luck on your decision.

Thanks for your responses. I didn't think the movable island would bring that big of response. I hope to compare the two models in the next week and hopefully make a decision then. Looks like the 320 is the way to go but I was liking the 295 because its shorter.

I just got my 295RL. I picked it because it is shorter. Sometimes that few feet makes the difference as to whether you are allowed in a campground and once in if you can park. I am 5'9" and can see the tv over the kitchen island even with the seat reclined.

We have the RS320. Love the layout. I understand about the extra length but never had a problem with that. We love the layout of the 320.

We tow with a 3/4 ton GMC short bed. Use a b&h hitch. They didn't make the slider hitch when we got ours, but we have not needed it.

320 is the best. I tow with 1ton 6.5 bed Chevy. I also have B&W companion. I can haul 5th wheel (18,000) goose neck and I can remove it it I need truck bed. I Would recommend this hitch to anyone.

We also went with the 320 because of the moveable island & the configuration of theater seating & entertainment center. If you have no need/desire to move the island, a few 320 owners have made it permanent. We went from a 34ft 5er to the 320 & have had no issues with the length difference.

We went with the 320 RS because of the moveable island and the layout for the entertainment centre, you can lay on the couch and watch tv and on the theatre seats. We had 4 couples in for supper on cold night, rolled the island off to the side as a buffet table and there was plenty of room. I pull it with a 2008 Chevy 2500 Duramax, we put air bags in to eliminate the "bobble head affect"

I think the biggest selling point beside the movable island is the Windows. How many campers can you step into and see nothing but windows as soon as you step inside. You have got to love the openness of the 320RS.

I got my 295 last month. Watching tv from the one side of the theater seat isn't to bad. I am 5'8" and with it reclined only the small upper left is blocked. You can't see much of the fireplace though. Since there are just two of us, one sits in the other theater seat and one on the couch

It really is a shame that factory doesn't have somebody to take those trailers out and spend a week in one. Trying to fix the latch is so the drawers don't all come out when I'm going down the road.this is the kind of workmanship it's done at the factory.[ATTACH]75952[/we are really happy with ours but have to put a lot of time into the details that got left undone .ATTACH]
