Wow, sorry for your luck. From my experience and from what others have told me the Ford controller is very good. Maybe you should put the P2 back in.

I am towing a Columbus 385BH with a 2007 Ford - my gain is set on 7.0.

I have my 2014 Columbus 320RS and a 10,000 lb equipment trailer I use as a car trailer. Both trailers are a 7 gain setting on my ford. Every time I hook up I use the override and do a tug test. That way I know the hitch is secured and the brakes work.
