Columbus 320rs microwave vent

Would someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? We hve a new 320rs and have just begun to explore all of the features. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to open the outside microwave vent. I failed to have them show me during the PDI and I have pushed and pulled the two small tabs on the vent with no success in opening the vent. What's the secret? Thanks.

There tight !
I had to use a small pliers first time I moved mine and after that they loosened up.
Are you sure it's an exhaust for your microwave ? Or is it for the range top exhaust ?

It is the outside wall vent connected to the microwave directly over the range top. I assume it vents the range top with the exhaust fan built into the microwave. The intakes are on the bottom of the microwave. Thanks

Its very tight. I have to push extremely hard upwards and out on the tabs to get them to pop loose. They are also difficult to latch shut having to push up very hard and pushing in towards the trailer. I'm hoping it will loosen up the more we use it.

Thanks, I at least now know in which direction to push the tabs. Wish me luck.

I don't remember seeing a vent for my microwave. On mine there is one near the bottom of my fridge, and one near the top of the fridge!! But I do not know what tabs that were mentioned.

Syencer....lol

Its the vent for the microwave / hood vent. Took me a min or two in order to find mine the first time I was looking for it. with the cover they have over it, you really have to look in there to see the tabs

I've been using it since September and never realized that I never opened it

Is it for the exhaust vent built into the microwave? Or should we open this to use the microwave also? Haven't opened mine as I didn't even know it needed opening.

Is the vent for GE or Highpoint microwave? Where is the vent to outside wall - inside or outside of RV. Obviously I'm not opening a vent I don't know about either but I don't cook anything in my microwave. Just use it to heat stuff back up. Never used the oven either much less convection oven. I'm a cook on fire type of guy so it's s bbq outside for me.

Anybody got a picture of this vent we are talking about? Do an overall view and a closeup.

Mine is a HighPointe. The intakes are under the microwave and the outside exhaust is under a vent cover which needs to be opened before use of the exhaust.

The vent is next to the fridge vents on the slideout. It's that little black hood in the picture. Very difficult to open on my Silverback.

The first time my wife turned on the exhaust fan on the microwave because she was cooking something on the stove (This was in January and too cold to cook outside). I told her I would go make sure the air was coming out of the vent. That was when I discovered it had tabs and I am 6'1 and I just barely have enough height to push the tabs up (standing on the tips of my toes) to open the vent. I always shut the vent cover as part of my packing up the RV from the campsite because I don't want any bugs or dirt getting inside.

I don't even bother to open the vent. I have to use a step stool just to reach it and then it harder than heck to open. Instead we turn on the fantastic fan in the kitchen.
