Looking at the Columbus 320RS but I don't want to have to buy a new truck. It appears that many here on the forum are pulling with a 2500HD or 250 3/4 Ton truck. Is this enough truck to handle the pin weight of the 320?
I don't want to alert the "weight police", just wanted some opinions from Columbus 320RS owners.

Not a member of the "weight police", but the dry pin weight is over 2000# which is a little much for a 3/4 T regardless of truck make or model.
There are thousands of these type of posts. You know what the weight is. You either know or can find the spec's on the trucks. It's not a matter of opinion.
I tow my 320RS with a RAM 2500 CTD. I am still under my payload and my axle's max capacity. It depends on the specs on the 3/4 Ton TV you're using. I am sure there are some 3/4 T that can't handle the 320RS.
I towed a Sabre fiver prior to my Columbus. I added Firestone airbags to level the headlights and discovered it towed better when I ran 10-15 psi. . I feel very comfortable and safe with my rig.
We have a Ram 2500 Cummins. We pulled a heavier Bristol Bay (12K empty and 2500 Pin) all over the US with no problems. The max pin of 2500 lbs still left us under the max weight allowed for the tires and rear axle. We now tow a Columbus 325RL which is nearly the same weight as your 320RS. Pulls easier that the Bristol Bay as the pin is 500 lighter and the trailer is nearly a 1000 lbs lighter.At least for the RAM, the axle and brakes and tires are the same between the 2500 and 3500 single wheel. The only difference is one additional leaf on the spring of the 3500 and the axle ratio goes from 3.73 to 4.10. I added air springs but find that I only need 20 PSI to keep the truck level. We have towed 40K miles in the past 5 years and never had an issue even when climbing mountains. You will be fine, just keep tire pressure up to max rated when towing.
We've hauled our 320RS all over the state of Texas for the past year-and-a-half with our Ford F250 with no problem. The pin weight is well below Ford specs for our model.

Are you running airbags? I don't think I'd have a problem running over since there is very little difference bewteen an F250 and F350.
Not sure what differences there are for GM and Dodge 3/4 tons though.
I just ordered a 2013 F-350 diesel. I was just about to pull the trigger on a F-250 but when I configured it with the Diesel engine it dropped the payload to 2650 lbs from 3100+. Too close for me. The pin on my ordered 32RCTS Sabre is just under 1800 lbs dry . That didn't leave much payload. Add a hitch, the DW, me etc. Not much room. The F-350 with the standard 11,500 lbs GVWR package gave me a payload of 3970 lbs with the diesel. An improvement of over 1300 lbs.
Your truck will pull it with ease...as others stated, once you do the math on your truck, you may find that your under in payload capacity...from there, you choose the best way to handle...I'm not going to tell you what you should do but I "LIKE" your truck now ,)

I have a GMC and the rating on pin weight is 3000 lbs. I have had no problems towing our 320RS. The truck sits level when loaded. I have air bags if needed. Just check out the ratings of your truck. The newer trucks have a much higher capicity than the old ones.
I have a Columbus 295RL and am towing it with a 2008 Dodge 2500 with Cummins. It's only about 600 lbs lighter than the 320 ( 100# lighter pin weight). My truck tows it great. We seriously considered the 320, but finally decided on the 295. We didn't need the extra 2.4 feet for just the 2 of us. Hope this helps.
