Columbus 340 tv remote changes fireplace temp settings

Has anyone experienced this "phenomenon"? Really weird...only happens when tv and fireplace are operating at the same time and you are changes channels with the tv remote
Thanks for your insights.

Most remotes, especially cheap ones, use ir infrared light to do their thing. The light pulses in a specific pattern when the buttons are pressed to alert the device as to what it needs to do. If they are set to the same pulse pattern then you'll get the results you have. You can sometimes see the ir pulse using a cell.camera and looking at the end of the remote. When you press a button you'll see the flashing. Works of the cell phone camera sensor does.not have an ir filter on it to block out the ir.. we will use a similar technique to find surveillance cameras..

You'd need to change the codes for the items, a new remote does not change the code being sent. My guess is there is no way to change the codes.

I have a366rlc. Mine does the same. I think it only changes it when using the channel up button. Gauthiers is trying to get the fix. Since its 95 degrees outside there's no hurry.

Our dealer is looking into this with Palomino.... I'll let you know the outcome... if there is one.

Well, in the mean time of waiting to hear from our dealer I discovered a method which helps eliminate some of the frustration controlling the fireplace with the tv remote. When they are both on DW suggested pointing the tv remote towards the ceiling above the sound bar...it works. The fireplace stays on and at the assigned temp.
Just another minor quirk.
I'll keep you all posted if there is a fix from Palomino.
