Columbus cell phone charging station problem

Dear forum members

Any ideas as to where we can get a replacement dual USB charging adapter for a 12V supply for our cell phone charging station. Can Forest River ship us a replacement as our unit is still under warranty till Feb 2016. Our USB charging ports are not working, but the cigarette adapter is working just fine. SInce the USB charging ports draw power from the same source as the cigarette lighter adapter, I have concluded it is the USB adapter itself.

Thanks
Balaji

Hello,
My USB did the same thing. Have you removed power entirely to rest it? The battery cut off switch?

The chip used in most USB chargers has a protective mode built in. If it is shorted or draws too much current, it will shut down. To reset it, simply remove power from it. ( in your case unhook from RV ) wait 10 seconds and reconnect you should be ok.

Cell Phone Charging Station

Thanks folks. I tried the battery disconnect. Did not wait for 10 secs, so will try that again. If that does not work, let me see if there is a way to disconnect it without having to replace the connectors. The ones that are used in my RV are the clamp on types, and I typically use the twist one type. If I have to disconnect the wires, it means cutting, stripping and reconnecting.

Thanks again,
Balaji

You can get them on Amazon for $12. I replaced mine in 5 minutes and it works great now. I replaced the 12 volt charger with another USB charger so now we have four ports. Works great!

ID:	90507just changed mine this week. I got it from Amazon. Upon inspection I found that it is a slide in and out unit which pulls out, no need to get into the wiring. The wiring on the back of the unit just has appliance lugs and would be easy to remove if you decide to replace the entire unit. Lots of luck.
