Good to hear. Columbus makes a nice looking RV. If they ever make a travel trailer version instead of a 5th wheel, I might get one. Looking at Sabre brand right now.

Welcome to Forest River Forums... Any pictures of your trailer or the places you visited? 15,000 miles is a lot of time in the drivers seat.

I have a Columbus and I am considering trading it in for a Sabre 34TBOK, almost ready to pull the trigger!!

Columbus is new and has some issues to overcome. Sabre has been around awhile and I don't read very many complaints about that brand. I've heard good things about Cheyenne dealer in Iowa and they have a good price on a 34TBOK. Nice rig if you need bunks and outside kitchen.

I really don't need the bunks, but the DW wants the outside kitchen. If I ho with anything bigger I will have to get a new TV as well. Thanks for your input

Columbus is supposed to be a step up, but after owning one I am not quite sure it is. I traded in my Cardinal for the Columbus, and I wish i had mt Cardinal back. With all the problems that I have had and the 4 months in the shop I am ready to get a new one. Now it needs to go back in to have the hub, brakes etc replaced because of a Lippert issue!! Just tired of paying for something we can not use!!

And yes, the Columus does have a couple of models with the outside kitchen, but not the one that I own and I am afraid to trade it in on a different model, plus my dealer will only give me 19,500 for a trade in on a 2013!!

We have the Columbus 320rs and have been very lucky with it. Not a medium - major problem and anything that was not right, (only 1 minor problem) I was able to fix it in 5 minutes. We love our Fiver but we also looked long and hard at Sabres before buying the Columbus ...but there was no Sabre dealer within 300 miles of us and we are glad we bought the Columbus!

Looking at your signature Scott, you had 166 camping events in two years and you live in Michigan with a short camping season. You wore your Columbus out already and that's why the dealer values yours at $19.5K for a trade. Just kidding of course! I would try and sell that RV yourself or bring it to a place that does consignment sale. Dump the Columbus that way and you will have way more money to shop for a Sabre, Cardinal, etc.

Shop the ENTIRE USA for your next RV. Shop online and make phone calls to get budgetary quote prices for trade in and what they are selling. Buying local is a joke but that is another story. Having a crappy service dept. close to you is absolutely no value!!! Driving a couple hundred miles out of your way to have an excellent servicing dealer is soooooo worth it.

You may be able to find a dealer who does not carry the Columbus line that feels that they will be able to flip it quickly. I did this on my 2013 Columbus 320. I traded for a 3650 Trilogy, also a 2013. The way the math ended up, the trailer base prices were the same, and I paid full retail price for all the upgrades on the Trilogy. Mutually beneficial, he sold my Columbus in less than 30 days and I have what I wanted.

Thanks Scott but the DW and I have already planned our summers adventures for 2014...and we will be in that general area end of July-first week in August for some wine trails, hopefully next time we will be able to make it!
