Columbus LED lighting

I thought LED lights were good for years of use.
We've had one completely fail since buying our unit late last August and now another is still burning but at about half intensity with all LED's lit.

I need to check and see if these are covered by the warranty, not the same as regular light bulbs for sure and not cheap.

We have surge suppression so that's not the problem.

Anyone else have problems with the bulbs?

Not yet but it's winter here in MN.
How do you get the thin round covers off?

I've had some issues with my docking led lights "flickering" and a few led 's burnt out or dead.
Dealer sent me new ones and all is good.

The round covers are just pushed in, they are kind of hard to get off because there is a detent all the way around the cover. I had a guy at the dealership in the parts department show me how. I have a nylon pry bar that I use to pop mine off.

LEDs are solid state and just like any solid state electronic, they either go bad within a few weeks of use, or last for years and years.

Very true statement, I think the dealership should replace them since it is so new!!!

Sweet - I have those nylon pry bars too. I used to rebuild laptops and it's what techs use to get the cases and screen display open. The two black ones on the right are the ones I used most.

We bought a 2013 silverback that came with factory LED lighting and the brochure that describes the lighting says lifetime warranty??

LED lighting is nothing but a con as far as i'm concerned. Bought all new xmas lights and they are no better if not worse than incandecent bulbs at 10x the replacement price.
Saw replacement bulbs at RV show and at 18$ apiece I think I'd rather add a second battery at a much lower cost if I were worried about extending battery life IMHO.
Rather spend 99cents to replace bulb rather than ???

Thanks everyone, I will contact our dealer about replacements. I'm baffled as to why they are failing. As Herk said, usually electronics fail quickly or go on for a long time.
I disagree about LED lighting not being a good idea; when you look at the lumens they generate versus power consumed they make lots of sense (if they last their expected lifetime).

We are all used to little red and green half globe shaped LEDs that were on circuit boards and yes those last a lifetime. Now LEDs are huge, super bright hi intensity, running lights, taillights, flood lights, room lights, etc. Once you crank that many watts and lumens via LED, I don't believe you still get lifetime longevity.

The LED room lights take less electricity to run thus makeing the tree huggers happy. This is a green movement thing so it sells well. The new thing with RVs at the show this year is LED eyebrows on the front caps. Makes your rig look like an expensive European import car. Well even Kia and Hyundai have that look now.

On our 2013 Columbus the LED covers are made of glass and screw off in a counter-clockwise direction. I have attached photos showing the cover on and off.

Led's bulbs

Just replaced every inside light fixture with the correct LED Bulbs, all 24...love the light that emitted from the LED's...also have them in our tow truck, S-10 and Jeep Compass....the 24 led lamps cost me at total for twenty bucks including shipping...now that is a great deal...Here is a lamp in the Compass over then drivers console..In the process of changing all exterior running light bulbs on the Crusader as well...have not counted those yet, but the bulbs that I have purchased are six LED's per bulb...

I believe they quote 6000 hours on these bulbs, so not a lifetime but sure not 7 months of intermittant use.

Who is "they"?
Love to know the mfg & part # as I see no reason to buy these at retail pricing.

They look like they are made the same way as those strip tape LED lights people are putting on the edge of their awnings. Those host tape carriers I'm betting are fragile and crack with vibration from towing. The actual LED itself is not burning out. Wonder if the tape and connections can be fixed via resoldering with wire wrapping wire. I used to do this 20+ years ago back before everthing was surface mount and solder paste. Example below.

Thanks for the link, first I will go to the dealer, as I think these should still be under warranty.
