I didn't order one either, I know it was more I believe but not sure of the price. I wanted the fold down rack on the back for proper bike hauling, holds 450lbs and attached to the frame. You cannot have this bike rack option with the fiberglass rear cap!

I saw a few pictures of a Columbus with the rear cap and I was sold on the look. Really dresses it up. What other advantages other than aesthetics I'm not sure. As for added cost, retail is $1130. Actual cost I'd guess would be about $800.

Plus the rear cap is pretty heavy. How often do you sit behind the rig to admire the cap? For the extra bux I would put it into a better pin hitch, levelers, 3500 truck, etc.

In a word...nope. There are lots of other things to make your life better while RVing than that.

Different strokes, as they say. I guess that's why it's an option. Paul Simon said it best, "One man's ceiling is another man's floor."

And as Ricky Nelson sang, "But it's alright now. I learned my lesson well. You see, you can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself."

Thankfully they don't have to build them all the same way, so we can all get them exactly the way we want them. (Mine will be the one with the rear cap. )
