Converter problem

Anyone had problems with their converter? I am on a 10 day trip and mid week noticed my battery was not fully charged (I am connected to shore power). When checking with a meter it only showed 12.11 volts and should be 12.70 min. All fuses in the electrical panel were OK. I had to pull out the entire fuse panel to get to the converter. The two fuses were OK, the converter was warm to the touch which seemed to be normal. Fan was not running. It just isn't charging the battery. Nearest dealer over 40 miles away so I opted to go to Wal-Mart and get a small battery charger (I only had four battery chargers at home, now I will have four at home and one in the camper) as to not let the new battery run down too much. This will get me by until I can get it by my dealer for repair.
I did call my dealer and they promptly found the nearest dealer to me, that dealer service department called me but I opted to not pull up camp and spend a day, I had rather have my local dealer take care of it. My dealer is only 20 minutes from my house.
I may opt to add a few bucks and get a better converter.
Any comments?

We had the exact same symptoms a few years a go on our previous TT. The only difference was we noticed it on our last day so I skipped the "buy a charger at Walmart" step...

...It did turned out to be a bad inverter board. It was quickly replaced and we never had another problem with it for the 9 years prior to trading it in on our Sabre..

The reason the troubleshooting guide requires you to remove the battery from the camper to check the converter's output voltage is that a dead cell in the battery can show the very same symptom as a bad inverter board; low voltage.

When my wfco converter went bad the reason it went out was the fan.
The fan would get hot and quit working then the converter would overheat.
When the converter overheated it would stop charging.
When everything cooled down again the process started all over again.
that's when I switched the converter out for a progressive dynamics.
Never had an issue again.

My wfco was a 55amp I replaced with a pd 70 amp.

Sounds like that is what is happening to my converter. I thought I could hear the fan kick on again.

A pd charger will fit into a wfco unit with a little bit of modification .
I have done it a few years ago.
Another poster just recently took my advice and did the same.

Weak link in a wfco convertor is the fan.
The other thing I have done is put a computer fan in the cupboard my convertor is mounted in to help with air flow .
