It's the "payload" number you want to compare...why I stated overweight...truck in my signature is rated same tow rate but with my 5'ver...loaded pin weight exceeds trucks payload capacity when you configure all the true numbers.
I'm no weight police as I break the "rules" myself...just wanted the OP to be aware of his numbers ,)

Gotcha. My payload is 10,000. I will be close on that. I think my truck is close to 7,000 plus the 2,400 of pin weight. It will be close.

your GVWR is 10k....

your payload will be what is left over from that 10k AFTER you put passengers and gear and accessories (if any on it)....plus the vehicle weight obviously...

I know my truck is 7840 on the scale..leaves about 2200 for pin weight..

course that's if your STRICTLY going by the stickered max gvwr....

mine has lift blocks, 350axles and airbags..so im not overly concerned with a few hundred lbs if necessary....none the less its STILL over technically..lol (insert weight police comment here)

I think you might be confusing your payload capacity with your Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Depending on the year model, your SRW F-350 should have a payload capacity around 3600 pounds +/-. However, if your pin weight is 2,400 and your truck weighs 7,000, you've got 600 pounds to spare not counting DW, kids, pets, gear based on your GVWR.

** Edited to correct my numbers, sorry **

I pull my 2012 34RLQS with my 1997 F250 Powerstroke, It pulls and handles great. You will hear from a lot of people that tell you that you will have to have a one ton but in reality the only real difference between a one ton and 3/4 ton is rear springs. Same axle, brakes, engine, frame, etc. The thing that you really need to watch and NOT go over is the rating of your tires. My tires are rated at 3415lbs or 6830lbs total which gives me plenty of extra capacity for a safety margin.

I thought the 250 had a ~6000# rear axle and the 350 a ~7000#? I could be mistaken....

Yip...350 has diff axle diameter. ..hence why i changed mine....also the 450 has larger brake rotors as well...

actually the 350 has the overload spring (standard on a 250 with camper package) and has a 4 inch block in the rear giving it a higher stance (the 250 has a 2.75 inch block)

mine now has the 350 axle, a 5.5ish block, the hd spring pack (its just an extra overload leaf) and airlift 5000 bags...the shocks have been changed to bilsteins.....i think they are 5160? make a big diff in ride quality.....

im waiting on the NEW 2015 450s to hit......many towing specific upgrades on those...cant wait!

I also have the airlifter 5000 airbags so I'm not worried about the pin weight and possibly being a few pounds over the 10,000. I also have the E rated tires on my truck. I'm happy with the tow vehicle. I thought about the dually but it would've taken up to much room in my garage and I didn't want to leave it sitting outside.

I pull the Crusader 330MKS with my '13 Chevy 2500HD Duramax. Loaded weight is around 12000 lbs, and I have had no issues. The Duramax handles it with no problem. Towing capacity is rated at 17000 lbs for that truck.

On another note, if anyone has been considering air bags, airlift is offering a 50$ rebate on the bags and another 50$ if u do an on board compressor. ...great price for anyone on the fence!..

Actually they both have the same rear axle, it is the Sterling 10.5, the only difference is the tires.

250 has 35 splines, 350 has 37 splines...but yes...it is a sterling 10.5 in both cases

many debate that its only the 350 drw that get this, despite ford specs listing it as such..the drw has a dana rear

https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas.../techspec.html

specifically page 18....axle specs..specifically spline diameter and number...

i KNOW for a fact they are different as i took the 250axle off mine and put on a 2012 f350 rear axle that i helped my nutty friend take off his truck so he could put a dually axle on (dont ask, its a topic for a WHOOOOOLE different thread lol)

so while i cant verify that every single sterling is diff on a 350, i KNOW this one was....

ill let everyone else argue that ford misprinted their tech sheet, as i was told on the powerstroke forum...

i know what i took off and what i put on....the original debate was such that we pulled an axle and actually counted...and yet we still got blasted as being wrong...dang internet...cant win lol
