Does anyone tow the Sabre 36qbok with a 3/4 ton diesel

In the market for a 5th wheel. My tow vehicle is a 2014 Gmc 2500 D/A. Wondering if anyone else in this forum tows this unit with a 3/4 ton truck. Thanks for any input

I know there's a couple that do, or maybe the sandpier/sierra counterpart that I think is a bit heavier yet. I tow/haul my 34TBOK behind an 05 F250 CC 4x4 V10 gasser with no problems. I know the diesel would pull better and the 36 is actually a bit lighter pin due to the added rear slide and bath. You may, or probably will be over gvwr on the truck, so that part is up to you. I don't think there'd be a problem.

I don't, 1-ton dually for me.

The 36qbok is going to have real pin weights of around 2,300-2,500 pounds and an actual weight anywhere from 13,800-14,800 pounds.

I think that there are several threads very similar to this under the palomino heading as well as very similar models on the sandpiper one.
You will be very close to gross weights on your truck, when campers empty, but most likely over on payload as soon as water, waste or supplies are added.
- will the truck pull it....yes.....

oops. forgot to check mark that stupid box again!

These numbers are incredibly low once you option and load up the camper.

Here are real-world weights in comparing against the published dry weights:
Dry Weights vs. Actual Weights for 36QBOK

Linked in that post are my 2 sets of weightings.

published pin and dry weights from manufacturer are about as reliable as MPG ratings on a new vehicle... In other words, not real. As Ependy said, need to weigh once loaded, but even unloaded published will be light.

Yep, I've weighed 3 times:

1) Unloaded just before its factory return
2) Start of last season w/ only a partial load for us (and absolutely empty tanks)
3) Mid-summer + heaviest load (just prior to 3 weeks away)

We always run with some water in the tanks (3 gray, 2 black, fresh and hot water tank).

Published tongue and dry weight of my new 5'r. (Sandpiper 365saqb)
2,060 lbs.
12,275 lbs.

Real weight dyer loading with standard items (linens, plates,PTA,pans, etc)
2750
13,700

I have a srwF350 with 3400 of remaining capacity so I am still good after I load the actual camping items (food, clothes, etc) a 250/2500 might be pushing it with real world weights

I haven't seen a yellow sticker on one (36 qbok) yet that was below 11,800ish. Most were around 12,400- 12,800. Look around on the web. Some dealers show the yellow sticker, but ive also seen several in person, and they didn't have all the options that I wanted either.
-most of the numbers will say don't, to towing with a 3/4ton, but its up to you to make the call.

oops. forgot to check mark that stupid box again!

I pull mine with an F350 DRW and myself would advise against it, however you'll hear a lot of people say that it can be done and it really depends what you are comfortable with. I've seen a 36QBOK pulled with an F250 with the 6.7 in it (and to top it off both the truck and the camper had 6" lifts on them.)

I tow with a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 8.1l gasser. Dry weight 12488. Have not had any problems but most of my trips are flat land. I have pulled some long grades with no problems. The firestone air bags made a big difference and the unit is balanced very well. When I go to full timing it will be in a 1ton.

I don't think you will go wrong with that TV. I vasilate between SRW and DRW. I think my next fiver will be heavier so I lean toward the DRW for stability and added safety in case of a tire blowout.

IMO...If you are a weekend warrior, you'll be fine...still over weight, but your truck will handle it flawlessly.
If you were going to be most timing or full timing, I'd move up in truck to accommodate the larger 5'ver...Have fun in your search!

Don't understand the overweight. Trucks rated to pull a fifth wheel 15,400lbs. Loaded I expect my trailer to about 13,000 lbs. we never carry water in our tanks. DRW truck only goes up to 15,600lbs in the 4x4 model. See attached chart below
