Double towing with Fifth Wheel?

Does anyone know if you can add a hitch to the rear of a Palomino Puma fifth wheel, so that I can tow a small motorcycle trailer behind it? We're going to travel in our fiver for the next six months or so and I would love to haul the motorcycle with us. Any info would be great.

Most states will not allow towing as a double with RV trailers.

Ditto: I know that Washington doesn't, however I have seen it done in other states. Better get a list of where it is legal and not if you plan on doing it. Otherwise can you put a channel on the rear bumper of the trailer and put the bike up on that?

I know my neighbor has a fiver, and he pulled a boat trailer behind his occasionally here in Fla, and got away with it for 4 or 5 YEARS. Then one day, a cop stopped him, and made him take the boat off. He had to come back for it later. He said that it's not legal in Fla, but other cops he asked say it's okay only on the highway! Randy

And don't forget that you can't maneuver doubles in reverse when you need to back up, like in a tight gas station, etc. Even if legal, it would probably not be the world's best idea.

I've seen it done here in Texas but I personally wouldn't do it. I agree with what has been stated so far. Some states are good to go others aren't.

I like the idea of rigging up your trailer frame to be able to support the bike but unless you can do that yourself it's gonna cost ya.

I do it, but I stay mostly out west when I do it. In the east most states frown on it, and in the west California, Oregon and Washington as well as British Columbia in Canada frown apon it. If you are going to do it make sure you are set up properly with enough brakeing power and anti sway devices are recomended.

Good Sam has published a list of states that allow doubles in one of their publications.

Also might check with other campground guide publications.

I was headed to Williamsport PA yesterday as I got off of Rt-15 in Shamokin Dam PA (I think that's how you spell it) there on the corner at a gas station was a Chevy 2500 HD with a 38' fifth wheel attached to it and behind it attached to the fifth wheel was a closed in utility trailer, my guess is that the utility trailer was 12' long not counting the tongue. It was a strange sight to see and I am glad it wasn't me, It just looked dangerous. Good luck to those who attempt this. If I had to stop there for the traffic light I would have taken a pic with my cell phone and posted it.
