Fan Vibration

Hi, just arrived back at the trailer (2009 Sabre 31RETS-6) in Alabama after it has been left stored since April. Apart from a coat of grime all seems OK except for one thing.

When I turn the fan on at the thermostat, it starts up but vibrates enough that yo van feel it throughout the trailer. The fan is the one associated with cold air not the furnace. I assume the fan unit is part of the air conditioner pack?

Any suggestions as to what may be causing the vibration, and also how would I get access to the fan?

Thanks

My guess is a fan blade out of balance.

As it has been stored I would look for a wasp nest built on the underside of one.

Thanks for the quick response, you were close! It wasn't a blade out of balance it was the fan out of balance. Wasps or some other such beasties had built a nest in the hub of the fan, and the nest was solid, and heavy. Luckily the inhabitants had long since disappeared so it was not too difficult to get into the hub and clean it out. The same was not true of the inside of the A/C cover which had an occupied nest in it, however a few jets of water cleaned most of it off. Hopefully the wasps will go and find a more natural habitat now.

Bottom line; the fan works very smoothly now.

I would like to suggest you go and check the vents for the fridge, water heater and the furnace for the same deal.

Look carefully in the vent tubes and anyplace you think they could crawl into.

Might not hurt to look at the vent for the stove hood and the plumbing vent caps on top.

Just checked the rest of the possible hiding places and they are all clear.

Most excellent!

Amazing the damage that some of those little buggers can do.
