Forest River Warranty Question for Columbus

Has anyone purchased the extended warranty that the dealer offers on the columbus or do you think that the Forest River warranty is good enough? Not sure if I should purchase it.

you need to do a search here, on the FR 2nd year factory warranty.
this comes up every week.

bottom line: FR offers a 2nd year warranty for $150, on most of its original lines.
most of us forgo the expensive 3rd party warranty and just add the FR 2nd year one.

I did the FR 2nd yr warranty. Its definitely worth the money, especially when you start getting quotes for extended warranty plans.

Let me back up a bit. How much do you plan to use your camper? When I purchased my first TT I did purchase a 7 year warranty for like $1700 bucks. Long story short, we didn't use the TT nearly as much as we wanted for the first couple of years and didn't really get to work the bugs out. Ended up having the water heater and converter replaced under the extended warranty even though they were almost brand new and barely used. Then had a water leak which was covered also. Now this was a Keystone product which from what I've seen now makes the worst products as far as reviews go.

Why did you have an almost brand new and barely used water heater and converter replaced under the extended warranty? Was there anything wrong with them?

No, just wanted to store my camper for free for a few weeks....here's your sign! LOL Just joking around. Yes, both went out with barely any use on them. Hence the almost brand new. However they were both outside of the 12month factory warranty and if not for the extended warranty would've come out of my pocket.

We used our Salem 30qbss last year just over 80 nights and the year before about 50 nights. I think and hope that this year we will be well over the 80 nights. We do get a lot of use from our trailers. I am leaning towards purchasing the extented 3rd party warranty even thought it is a bit expensive. Peace of mind.

I also have a seven year extended warranty. Shop a round and read what’s covered and not covered. Each policy is different, so compare witch covers more. For example, some cover slide seals and some don’t.
Mine is a ……… $ 50.00 deductible …………$1,200.00 for seven years
