HELP with Dometic Refrigerator on 2014 Palamino Puma

We have a brand new Pumo with a Dometic refrigerator and we have had problems with it staying cool since we got it. I know there is the slider thing to move up and down to regulate the temperature, with the probe, the refrigerator seems to stay cool on LP but when changed to electric it doesnt stay cool, usually I'll put the probe as high as I can and it will stay 35 -40 but today its at 50 and I can't seem to cool it down............any idea's???

We have owned 4 campers and never had this problem with the refrigerators, but cold refrigerator is an important part of camping, especially with 3 little kids

Thanks for any help or advice

When it reached 50 degrees today, was the sun shining on the side of the camper where the refrig is located. We've owned 10 rv's of different size, make, etc and recently purchased a new 2014 Wildcat Maxx. Almost every rv we've ever owned had a problem during a hot day with the Sun shining on the side of the unit where the refrig resides. The heavier the frig is loaded the better. It holds it's temp best when it's full of cold items. A half empty frig is much less capable of holding it's ideal temp. We've always just accepted that that's the way it is with these refrig's.

hmmm that is interesting and the sun wasn't out all day til later afternoon which is when the fridge started getting warmer. And we don't have much in the fridge at all so maybe we need to stock it huh? was beginning to think we needed to put ice in it to keep it cold, weird thing is the freezer seems to stay cold or ice does anyway, anything you can do to keep them colder? we had a Dutchman, wildcat and trail-lite and never noticed that before

Is your refrigerator a side vent or a top vent?

If it is a side vent model they need a fan/fans to draw cooler air over the coils and move the heat out of the upper vent. Some folks here have added supplemental fans to those added by the manufacturer or relocated/replaced them to get better air flow. If you search around the the site, General Tech and Repair appliance thread in particular, you will find many threads where people discuss what they have done to resolve this.

Thanks Keith, I was looking last night but at the campground here our internet is VERY slow better then nothing though LOL so decided to just post the question.

How do we know where the vent is? are we looking inside or outside? looking at the refrigerator I do not see vents on the inside it is built in a slide out. there are 2 vents on the outside (back) of the slide though

Your vent would be on the side. The two vents on the outside back of the slide are the refrigerator vents. The fan/fans would be located in the area behind the vents/connecting wall. There should also be a deflector that goes between the top of the upper vent to the back wall to help force hot air out of the top vent.

One thing you can do is listen for fans when the fridge is cooling. If you don't hear them then try to see if the are installed or not by opening the vents and looking inside. If the fans are installed and not running then it could be a fuse or other electrical problem. If you don't have fans there are a number of posts with pictures on the site where people have added or modified their refrigerator fans.

Do you run it on propane on the way to the campground to get and keep it cold? We run ours with a full load of stuff, and have not had any issues; we usually plug it in a day or two before we travel, change it over to propane for the trip and them back over to electric once we plug into the campground. Something to check with the dealer on.... should be cold
