Thank you Master Chief. I realized I was pushing the limits of the truck but its hard convincing the DW that a new truck (again) is in the mix. Personally I would prefer a drw over the srw for the extra stability and the blowout factor. Love my Ram but could learn to love another newer one.

I have a 320 and 2015 ram 2500 cummins 4x4 I get 13.5 mph when pulling and don't have any problems, might add air bags also my hitch is a 18k pull rite auto slider.

Check RAM web page and you will find newer 2500 RAM have very limited payload because coil spring suspension in the back. Your pin weight will be too much. Because of this, I recently bought a 3500 RAM-2015.

I have leaf springs and no coils. Max weight for the rear axle is 6,200# and it weighed in at 3,000# so I have 3,200# to play with GCWR is 25,000 with a tow capacity of 7,700#

I agree with JohnT anything less than one ton is pushing trouble. I have 3500 Chevy SRW and loaded have 800 lbs to spare. Tongue weight on the 320 is about 2500 pounds.

I agree as well. The liability factor is huge when a Tire blows out and it doesn't end well for someone. If your over gross your in a bad place and about to loose everything just because you thought it would work.

I don't want DRW but that is just a personal thing. If I had an 18000 lb 5er, I would have a 3500 DRW. While I would love to have a new 3500 SRW; I have never had an issue pulling the 320 with our 2500. High winds, mountains nor braking have never given me cause for worry, but I am at my max payload. I think you will find more 2500 TV's than 3500, even though many (like myself) would buy a 3500 if buying new.The newer 2500's are rated for more payload than most older 3500 TV's. This means the 2015 - 2500's do better than 2000-3500's.

My 2013 has a GCWR of 25,000#and a tow capacity of 17,700#. No doubt it can pull a 15,000# fiver with a pin weight of around 2,500+-. I have looked at the DRV's and most are up in the 22,000# with a pin around 3,200+. If you look at a 3500/F350, they shouldn't be pulling one of those either. You would need a Freightliner M2 at the least. A friend of mine pulls for Indiana across County with a 2500 with air bags and had 350,000 miles on his last 2500 and over 150,000 on his 2014 2500. He hasn't had any issues going from Indiana to LA and is leaving with a DRV to Seattle. So I guess it's a matter of do I or don't I?

I hope you have your numbers right. When I look at the RAM webpage info, if you have GCWR of 25,000 you must have a 2500 diesel. However, if this is the case the diesels have a payload around 2,600 according to the same page. The pin weight of the Columbus would be too much. But as I said, I hope you numbers are correct. Oh ya my numbers are correct and for liability reasons I would not exceed, or push, the limits of the vehicle. As one person put it simply, have an unforseen accident in which someone is injured or killed, and you GCWR or any other numbers have been grossly exceeded, it's not going to be real comfortable for you and your family for many years, if ever again. So...the moral of that story is have more truck than trailer not more trailer than truck.
