Hitch for 320
I am fairly close to getting a columbus 320.I'm new to fifth wheels and confused as to what type/brand of hitch I need. Dealer sells only one brand and looking for advice. I have a 2014 gmc 2500 crew cab short bed. Also I would like the type that can be removed from the bed. That is no rails in the way. With the short bed I am also planning on it to be a slider. One other thing for those that know will I need air bags? Pln weight empty 2015. Thanks.

I have a 320 also and I bought a superglide 2900 18k love it. I pull it with a 2015 dodge ram 2500 cummins 4x4 , I don't feel that I need airbags yet but maybe down the road. And I also installed a bed saver by blue ox for safety. $204 ate trailors.

PullRite is your best bet. Mine is wonderful, well built and easy to use. BlueOx bedsaver is tops.

I have a long bed truck and went with the Curt 20k. It has a double locking jaw and a 360 degree swivel head. Not sure if they have one with a slide.

Get a B&W haul a 5th wheel, goose neck then turn over the ball and you have a full bed. You don't even know there was a hitch there. Companion has two pieces and easy to remove even for this old man.

I suggest getting the TrailAir Tri-Glide pin on your 320. I have it & love it over a standard pin. I already had a Curt slider so I kept it. I have a short bed but have not needed the slider, yet. If I were buying a new hitch I would look at one that also had a cushioning system. I added firestone air bags to my TV just for leveling purposes.

I also have the B&W hitch. If you want a flat bed this one is hard to beat. I bought mine before they made the slider model. Have pulled the RS320 for 3 years and never needed the slider. But now you have the option. It is easy to remove even with one person. It comes out in 2 pieces, none above 70 lbs.

I went with the B W companion hitch to pull the 320 and so far like the results. I have a 2 1/2 inch drop of the bed after hookup. I feel this is acceptable without air bags. Any thoughts? 2014 gmc crew cab 2500 diesel.

I have a 3500 LTZ and mine drops about 2". Best thing to do is load it then weight it. Always pays to know what you weight. Mine is 10,700 with 320 attached, that gives me a 800lb cushion.

I use a superglide 18K pulling a Columbus 295. it works good but its heavy and does adds weight if you're limited. On the scales my 5th wheel tongue weights in at around 2350lbs (empty). A far cry from the factory numbers. I did add some firestone air bags to my RAM giving it an improved ride, level things out and add stability. I am looking for suggestions to replace my pullrite with something that works because of the weight. I'm already approaching my axle weight limits and need to loose some pounds somewhere. Anybody got any suggestions!!

I use a Curt OEM Dodge Q16 non slider. This hitch weight is 178 pounds, can be removed or reinstalled in under 5 minutes. My recommendation is to go to the largest Spring/Frame manufacturer in your area and get some expert advice. Q16 is a non slider but can add roller bars if I wanted a slide. Never have had an issue backing up my 320, after 3 trips I now park it solo.

Hitch for 320
I have watched others unhook and it's fun watching. Pulling the pin pulling forward then finding out they are still attached. I went to the FROG rally last year and several others couldn't believe how easy I disconnected from my 320'with the B&W hitch. After I raise 5th wheel off truck I pull pin from lever on companion pull lever and truck always floats forward. Ask any owner of B&W companion and they will tell you same thing. Companion comes out of truck in two pieces now you can haul goose neck or have an empty bed to haul anything. Hitch is set up for 18,000 and pinbox on Columbus is 15,500. Great hitch. They also have a slider but you don't need one no issues on standard bed Chevy.

The B&W slider takes up nearly the entire bed so there is no room for a generator or much of anything else in the bed. I do have a B&W gooseneck so i went with the Pullrite slider and the Super rail kit which lets me attach the slider to the B&W hitch. I can then remove everything and either use the gooseneck or have and empty bed. The hitch is heavy though so I recommend a chain hoist or engine lift to remove it

I have a Dodge 2500 with 6.5 box, bought a16Q Curt hitch, light weight and extremely easy to hitch and as a matter of fact I did it by myself the first 3 trips in the 320.

I have same truck with a Columbus. Air bags make a big difference. I have a Curt 16k and love it, easy to hitch and unhitch.

Looking at a 320rs and want to pull it with a 2013 Ram 2500 4x4 crew Lariat with a 3.42 rear axle and short bed. Anyone using this truck for this rig?

2500 is too small a truck. I had one for a year, went to a 3500 dually. The 2500 was over weight just Linn payload with me and trailer attached. Anything in the truck just adds to the weight and anything forward of the axles does the same. You will be much better off going to a bigger truck or, a smaller trailer.
