I put a hitch on my 5er but I also added a complete 2X4 12ga sub frame from my axle hangers all the way back with multiple cross members and a 4' receiver tube.

Here's my thoughts as it pertains to my situation.

My 5er has solid I beams right to the tail where the bumper is welded on. What I'm planning on doing would put about 400lbs of weight onto the hitch I add, if two 8-10" (I can't remember which) I beam rails can't handle an extra 200lbs of vertical load each, I have to wonder how delicate they are.

That would also solve my no where to connect my "jt strongarm" problem. I like the idea of 2x4 so you get the strength with out getting to heavy.

After some research I found that my frame was identical to the triple axle Toy Haulers that have the 2000lb garages. They are 12" non welded "I" beams.

I also am out of warranty at this point as well.

I also use my tongue scale and keep it at 250-275 LBS.

That was exactly the reason I chose that tube!!

I also attached my strongarms to the new sub-frame.

Turbs, who did you talk to as sabre? Sam? Or call the factory directly? The more I'm thinking about this I'm assuming they are going to say no.

If that's the case maybe I find a different 5er or wait till warranty is up. If I mentioned either of these options I'm pretty sure she is going to kill me in the mean time I do really need to figure out a why to at least haul the bikes the kids little bike can ride in the camper but two adult ones I'm not sure about.

Shane, do you have any pictures from the back? How far the receiver finishes from the camper? I am a sheet metal worker so this something I can probably tackle if I were comfortable after warranty expires. Did you just spice your campers trailer harnass for second trailer lights?

Sorry I don't have a pic of that right now but will take one for you in just a bit.

I spliced into the trailer lights because 1) most trucks have separate trailer lighting circuits now a days and can handle quite a few lights.
I also spliced into the brake wire for a wireless brake controller for the ATV trailer but have not used it yet because the ATV trailer has towed like a dream.

I do have a hardwired camera on the back of the 5er that interfaces with my radio to watch the ATV trailer and the people following to close behind me!

But I installed a hitch on my flagstaff quite a few years ago and it didn't end well.
BTW it carried 3 bikes.

If you have a "sheet metal" fabricated I beam frame then I wouldn't even go near this in any way shape or form .
With an actual structural I beam I'd consider a flat rack which mine has from the factory as well as an actual structural I beam.
When I asked Sabre about a hitch I was still told absolutely not!

I had almost the identical problem on my 2005 Flagstaff as Turbs did. I now have a 2010 Sandpiper and Forest River/Lippert have limited weight restrictions on it too. Since mines out of warranty, that doesn't bother me. Putting a load back there much over 150lbs is what bothers me. Call the frame manufacturer tech support and ask them about your particular FW frame. I do know that Lippert (Lippert Components, Inc.) sells hitches and racks for their frames. I still shy'd away from them.
