Hitch question

My rig is going to be a 2014 32RCTS. I will be hooking it up to a brand new F-350 Crew Cab, short bed. Read a lot about hitches on this site. This is my first 5'r and I know I want a slider. Most of you really like the Pullrite Super Glide. My dealer is trying to talk me into a Husky manual. The problem I have with the Husky besides the manual pull is that you need to drill into the frame to mount the plates. I have a feeling this will void some part of the warranty? I was looking at the Pullrite 4100 with 16K rating.

1)Does the pullrite require drilling into the frame?
2)Is the 4100 the right hitch for the 32RCTS
3)Does anyone know of warranty issues if you do drill into the frame?

Thanks

If you're going to go for a manual slider- look at the new B&W Slider. I assume they have one that fits the OEM pucks.

I would have a Reese underbed system installed. This system bolts directly to your frame using existing factory holes in the frame. This system does involve drilling four small holes in your bed. This is the same system that Ford installs at the factory.

I just installed a Pullrite Super 5th (non slider) in my 2008 Ram CTD. There was no drilling, it used all the factory holes. I know that Dodge frowns on drilling the hydroformed frame. Most manufacturers have found ways around it. The Pullrite is one of them.

We have a Pullrite 4100 16K hitch on our 2006 Dodge Megacab and it was all bolt on, no drilling. We use it to pull our 2012 32RCTS. As you are probably aware, the Pullrite hitch will require a capture plate to be installed on your Sabre pin box so make sure you get the right one if you go with Pullrite. Hopefully some Ford guys will give some feedback as to any required drilling. I would avoid drilling the frame, if possible. Just my .02

I have a 2011 Ford F250 and the PullRight 4100 was mounted without drilling the frame. Mine is also mounted so that it can be removed with no rails in the bed.

I pull my 32 RCTS with a short bed RAM and the Curt 16k Manual Slider. We had our RV dealer install it with no imopact on warranty.

It is super easy to operate the slider control although in 2 years of towing, I'm yet to need it. Still not sorry though...A day WILL COME when I will need it.!

I have the Pullrite 16K auto slide and love it. Not sure about the mounting on your truck. X2 on Slide5r4fun's comment, make sure you get the right capture plate. I also have the Trailaire Pin box. I like it too! Congrats on the 32RCTS decision and enjoy!

1) Pullrite offers the frame mounting plates that work with pre existing holes in the truck's frame for attachment

2) Your GVWR for this Sabre is under 14K lbs...so a 15K or 16K will be fine, your choice

3) Always check with Ford reps to answer this critical question besides other fellow Ford Owner's giving you their opinion on Hesse sites...just to be safe!

Though you may not use the slider often, definitely skip getting the manual style (PITA)...nothing compares to the auto slider hitches!
Congrats & enjoy...post some pics when you're all setup

Thanks

Hey Guys;

Thanks for all the input. A pullrite is in my future. No sense taking a chance with 90K worth of new rig. It would break my heart to hurt that new truck or 5r.

I placed my order today for the 32 RCTS. Haven't been able to see one in person but spent a good deal of time in a 33 CKTS and lots of pictures so the DW & I took the leap. Got lots of options which I will post in the next couple of days. A bit late right now in AZ to do that.

One thing the dealer and we have not been able to figure out is the number of sewer hook ups on the 32. I know it has 3 tanks handles and in pictures it looks like only one sewer hook-up but hard to tell. The 33 has two hook-ups I am hoping the 32 has only one.

Can somebody let me know if it is one or two.

And again, thanks for all the info.

And the one dump port is NOT under a slide like some models we looked at.

Love mine and it was a "moderately" complicated (for me) install on my 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD as only one hole on each side was pre-existing. It is used as the "starter hole" to template all other holes that need drilling (except for bed holes).

It never hurts to have more hitch and my hitch is rated for the maximum 5th wheel weight the truck is supposed to pull (15,400); so I have the 3300 (older hitch rated at 16,000 pounds). My camper is 9,300 pounds GVWR.

I have never had trouble getting warranty service at any GMC dealer I have used. It might be a different story if I was looking for frame crack warranty that originated at one of my drilled holes.

As to the warranty on the pullrite, I have never had the degree of service from any other company. Their customer service phone line was extremely helpful when I was thinking about installing it myself and they hooked me up with their area rep, Scott, who spent hours on the phone holding my hand as I put it in. He stopped by one day to see how I did and have a beer. Can't ask for a nicer experience.

Many Kudos to:
